James McCarthy

Didn't think it was a red myself. Yellow, definitely, but he went in with one foot and bent his leg once he realised he wasn't getting there - if you're looking to do someone you straighten it.

I think he does you know. Fellaini often just stuck a leg out which the attacker either dribbled past or won a foul out of. McCarthy properly plants his non-tackling foot and puts a bit of weight behind them.

But at the same time Fellaini often just moved players off the ball and won a lot more 'battles' rather than 'tackles' compared to McCarthy.

That's a good comparison.

A booking was fair, why are we all obsessed with styling ourselves as no contact continental beauts?

I love that McCarthy loves a tackle and im really not bothered that he's snapping legs either.
Over the years we've had midfielders who shat out of 50/50's, no longer is that happening and i love it.

Hansen didn't say a word until They showed replay of the tackle, couldn't wait to get 'was nil-nil' in, so bitter, can't wait until he is binned off at the end of this season, Although I'm sure the next RS is lined up. Fowler, Murphy or some other ********

At least Savage is a massive blue. Always enjoy it when he´s on.

Got to say I am liking what I am seeing from McCarthy. For someone who played for a relegated side I was worried he would have the mentality and desire to win. The lad is proving to have that in spades. His engine and distribution is very Roy Keane like for me, I think he can develop into that type of influence on the team. You can just see how badly this lad wants to win. Obviously it's still early days but his distribution and awareness will only get better in time. The lad already looks a shoe in for our next captain for me.

Hate to blow my own trumpet but I told people on here ages ago Jimmy Mac would be great for us while most people were saying they didnt want him and he wasn't good enough. Lucky we got him ahead of other clubs linked, spurs, arsenal

I was gutted when Felli went but at least we got good money for him. Have to praise Martinez here because so far the combination of McCarthy and Barry means I'm not missing him so much! £13m was a lot to pay for McCarthy and I was concerned about him. But I've been pleasantly surprised by him. He's neat & tidy on the ball, gets about the pitch really well, and puts a foot in. Good team player. Just needs to grow in confidence and go forward more when the opportunity arises. But I suppose his role is to break play up and give to our other 'forward thinking players', so that's ok if that's his role. Thought he played well yesterday.
