He needs eased back. I still wince now thinking about that injury. If he can get fully fit then there is still a role for him. I'd say that's unlikely given his record with injuries. But only way we'll find out for sure is if he is given a gradual comeback and good medical advice.

Silva will give him his chance and he just might well take it.

As you say though, it’s a big ask for him to come back to the player he has shown he can be. Good squad option though, particularly for the Derby.

I get your point but alternatively there's (off the top of my head) the likes of Aguero, Costa, Torres, Fabregas, Alonso, Toure, Zabaleta, Sanchez, Silva, Corzola...

Marco Alonso, Azpilicueta (via Marseilles), Mata, Pedro (to an extent) and a fair few more I am probably not remember; there's GK such as De Gea and Courtois.

Until he plays it is hard to judge and obviously he didn't flourish at Barca, but he was very good at Valencia - why he moved to Barca - so let's be positive.

With regards to McCarthy, well he's got his own injury concerns and issues to get over so I doubt that he will have an automatic place in Silva's XI or bench.

It's almost like every player is different and will suceed or not based on numerous factors

The next minute you’re say McCarthy is garbage, when in reality there isn’t a great deal between them, gana slightly edges it.

At least I’m consistent with my Argument, as I think they are both bang average.

Maybe you are confused as to what consistent means. Gana is really good. McCarthy is not. Find me a post where I said differently. Just because you think they are on similar levels, doesn’t make me inconsistent.

Agreed. Even when he came back last time, he looked awkward, banged up. Maybe he was still getting fit, but he didn’t look right.

I think 90% of the posters on here would say there isn’t much between the two of them. I think gana is better, but not much in it.

Anyone with a brain would say Gana is significantly better in every aspect. What is it with remembering injured players better than they actually are? Same thing happened while Bolasie was out injured last season and once he came back everyone remembered how rubbish he is.
