James McCarthy

Gomes hasn't even played a game for us.... I hope he finds his old self with us but seriously you are talking about him like he's an established player. Klaassen looked great in another league.
How is he not an established player? He’s made over a 100 appearances in La Liga for two really good clubs. The Klaassen comparison is silly. The Dutch league is nowhere near La Liga.

Forlan, morientes, perez, sandro, falcao, bailly, navas, soldado, reyes, del horno... just off the top of my head.

All well established la liga players who couldn't do it in the premier league.

Gareth bale himself said la liga is easier compared to the prem.

I really hope the lad turns out to be class but to automatically place him ahead of anyone like McCarthy without watching him play is premature to say the least.

I get your point but alternatively there's (off the top of my head) the likes of Aguero, Costa, Torres, Fabregas, Alonso, Toure, Zabaleta, Sanchez, Silva, Corzola...

Marco Alonso, Azpilicueta (via Marseilles), Mata, Pedro (to an extent) and a fair few more I am probably not remember; there's GK such as De Gea and Courtois.

Until he plays it is hard to judge and obviously he didn't flourish at Barca, but he was very good at Valencia - why he moved to Barca - so let's be positive.

With regards to McCarthy, well he's got his own injury concerns and issues to get over so I doubt that he will have an automatic place in Silva's XI or bench.

Thats a bit mad really. I get you rate him at a certain standard. But to say players are going to leave if he plays games is a bit mad, you can basically say that about anyone. Im leaving because you are playing James McCarthy, i really dont think so, you can also say it about anyone.

McCarthy has done something most in our squad haven't and that actually win a medal and he did it with a gasher team then Everton who went on to be relegated and an injury to him was a dictating factor of why that outcome came about.

Why are you making things up? He played every league game for them that season.

He's more consistently injured than Gana, maybe.

Come on guys, this dude hasn't been even PL average in years. He's nowhere near Gomes / Gana level in his prime. If you want him around to do a backup job for us, fine, but come on.
This is hilarious
A few days ago you’re saying gana is our best player and some sort of world beater.

The next minute you’re say McCarthy is garbage, when in reality there isn’t a great deal between them, gana slightly edges it.

At least I’m consistent with my Argument, as I think they are both bang average.

Another option, provided he can get back to form...guy's lost like 2+ years of football to injury. There's a useful player in there but I would think he's got a contract coming up soon, so who knows what'll happen; gonna' be a weird situation for him.

..not sure it’s ‘weird’ for him. The lad has had misfortune with injuries but he’s earned many millions over the past few years. He’s sitting pretty. Not a bad old life.

Thinking more in regards to his future football aspirations...depending on how it goes for him, he might not have the greatest of options. I wouldn't choose to go back to Hamilton at his age. Wonder who would take a chance on him...

Also Liverpool had a right back who flopped here, but ended up being a regular winning trophies at Real Madrid.

He was that good I can’t even remember his name.

I wish he was lining out for Ireland tonight.

I don't! But I'm surprised he's not lol

He needs eased back. I still wince now thinking about that injury. If he can get fully fit then there is still a role for him. I'd say that's unlikely given his record with injuries. But only way we'll find out for sure is if he is given a gradual comeback and good medical advice.

..I doubt he’s in the least bit stressed. He’ll still have a big pay day in store.

I see Niasse, Schneiderlin and even Tosun as the three most likely to be sold to raise funds for purchases... maybe even in January if we are able to sign the players we want.
I think McCarthy will stay , I think he will play quite a lot and hopefully he can stay fit and healthy.
