It just seems strange that in a team that was struggling he didn't get one minute on the field and his under 23 involvement seems to be limited as well.
I would have thought he would have been brought on in games even if only for ten minutes just to help him get back up to speed.
Phil Jagielka was brought straight into the team even though he has been out for months as well. It isn't as if our midfield has been wonderful in recent months.

Tom Davies didnt even make the squad the other day.

I dunno, maybe we wanna limit his time on the pitch so he doesnt get injured again? I mean I would have thought our plan at this point is to sell him, we cant do that if he gets injured. Of course to help sell him we should also "showcase" his talent on the pitch.

As for the U23s, its also about the younger players progressing, they dont progress if McCarthy takes their place.
