Good player when fit....
Alas always injured...
Should retire from international football....
Think McCarthy would rather retire from club football if it wasn't for the fact he wouldn't earn a living.:)

Always been a huge critic of his putting nation before club, but this particular injury had nothing to do with that. So let's get him fit soon and see how he returns.

Hes injured so much, but there should be some type of rule were if your injured for x amount of time in a row for your club like he is at present, that the international team he plays for cannot go and call him up before hes even played for us after his injury,or only played 1 game since been back etc-so many times in the past remember the likes of shearer after his near long year injury he had and he was picked for england a few weeks later-what happens again if they get injured in internationals playing when we dont want him/whoever to play etc

As many have said that when fit he is our best defensive midfielder by some distance.
He was having lots of problems with his hamstrings and never really gave himself the chance to recover properly. Turning up and playing for the national team when not properly fit was a very stupid thing to do and the fault lies mainly with McCarthy there.

If there was a silver lining to the leg break it is that all old niggling injuries should be well behind him and he comes back with a clean slate.
He needs to come back slowly and carefully and that would not include playing international matches in just over a month. Let him go and join the squad, let him train with them but not play until after Christmas.

If he gets properly fit I think he will play every week under ilva.
