I'm getting more excited by the McCarthy transfer the more I read about it. I've been sitting on the fence about it while the debate about him being good or not raged on in here because I've not consciously watched him that much so can't really comment, but what I do know is that Martinez knows him very well and I trust him to have made the right decision on him. He's only 22 years of age so has his whole career in front of him and if he goes on to play for us for many years that transfer fee will look a snip.

From what I've seen of him tho he's got a good passing range and likes to come and get the ball off the centre halves, which is exactly the type of player we need to turn our harmless passing around the back moves into forward ones. Can see him becoming a mainstay in that central midfield role with Barry/gibbo rotating in the other spot. Hopefully ossie is at the bottom of the pecking order now because despite the fact he's been a great player for us, his performances this season suggest he is over the hill

He's a slightly better, massively more expensive, equally ginger version of Mark Pembridge.

haha, I hope that turns out not to be an accurate comparison

Any shred of evidence to substantiate that? Just because earlier in the week the Echo and the Guardian both reported that City were refusing to budge and demanding we paid his entire £125k a week salary. The fact that we got him at the last minute, after Felli had gone, suggests that we caved in to their demands. They didn't NEED to do anything with him.

And Felli may have been our top earner, but Barry and Lukaku will both be on more than Anichebe, and McCarthy won't have come for much less than that either.

I have no info, but I don't get how you come to that conclusion. It just indicates that someone caved, not necessarily Everton.
