2025/26 James Garner

I know this theory hasn’t taken hold in the PL still but it’s actually fine to build a team around the concept of trying to win 3-2 every week instead of 1-0. United are open because it opens opponents up too and they trust that they’ll win in those games. The players probably aren’t quite good enough for that still as far as winning the league goes, but just Mbuemo and Cunha has already been enough to show the promise in that philosophy.

Kevin Keegan tried this for Newcastle in the 90s. They got lots of foreign fans and made europe. The even went toe to toe with SAF and eventually lost then dropped off until Eddie Howe took over as manager.

They dont have many fans now because Newcastle brown ale isnt as popular anymore & normal football doesnt excite overseas fans as much.

Btw Amorim isnt intentionally opening up space. He's got no choice as hes fixated on a single system and doesnt have the midfield quality.

So hes stuck with one ageing player who is expected to cover the workrate of a lazy player. The lazy player is Fernandes who has been pretty dreadful defensively this season and so is incomparable to an all round midfielder.
