2025/26 James Garner

Wonder if the delay is contingent on his position in the team for the remainder of the season. Specifically staying in midfield to help his England prospects rather than being stuck at rb.
Wouldn't surprise me that he wants the club to be ambitious, and fighting at the top of the league. This might be the only way he can get an England call. If we finish 13th, extremely unlikely that he will be in the squad for the world cup.

You being serious ?

A young lad playing his heart out, and you're saying it's down to a contract..

Wake up mate, not everyone is just about the pennies...

I’m not saying he is mate, it’s subjective really as neither of us knows the future. More pointing out a coincidental observation.

But there’s no reason to fall of your chair that a players performance improves when they are playing/negotiating for a new deal and or a move elsewhere if necessary.

We’ve seen it before.

Just leave as difference of opinions than mate.

One of those days, in one thread he has to move to Rb because of a posters filthy beliefs. And than I read he's upped his game for a contract.

The only difference in garner and ive had to argue it since day 1, is he got caught under Dyche, a bloke that is a detriment to the growth of talent.

Now Moyes has given him that freedom back to be the player he always has been, and there has to be some alternative to it..

Yeah, I do need to shut up about him more, because it is just my opinion, and everyone is allowed there opinions.

but it does my nut in, that we always have to find faults in players..

Nature of the forum mate, you always 360 views of a situation and people just being contrary.

Intend to think of things as talking points in the main as opposed to absolutes.

Either way the point I brought up isn’t necessarily a bad thing when you think about. If he’s worked harder, progressed and raised his game to get a good contract and better living for himself and its good for Everton and that’s rewarded then you have to say for play to him. I suspect he’s would want to make the best financially he can of his career and I think that’s ok really in any career when you work hard and develop to achieve it.

His recent performances have been as message. "I'm first choice midfielder". Only reason, to play him out of position, is during a match for tactical or injury reasons.
He has stepped up with others out of the team which is good to see...

Regarding the earlier posts about RB... when we had Gana, KDH and no recognized RB then yes putting Garner at RB would have added much better balance to the team with JOB at CB. I think this has clearly been proven that the balance is better.

Garner has stepped up his game since early December and claiming his place as no.1 starter in there.

Now... hopefully with Patterson being given a chance and Coleman as back up (plus hopefully a RB target either this window or summer) we never have to see O'Brien at RB ever again and the conversation doesn't have to happen.

Get Garner on the new contract and let's see what we can do this season with KDH and Gana also coming back into the team / squad in the coming weeks!
