Can dictate games for us. Could be a very shrewd bit of business.
It's a shrewd bit of business no matter how the next few years go. If it goes poorly, we got inexpensive midfield depth and probably get out where we got in.

The odds of it  not going poorly are quite good, so this one is as no-brainer as deals get.

I'm almost hoping one of the three in the middle have a bad game so we can see what he can do. Almost.
I think he’ll be very useful when it’s kitchen sink time and we need a goal with 15 mins to go. Gana and Iwobi are great but don’t score or create enough (maybe that’s starting to change with Iwobi but hasn’t historically) so being able to bring on a set piece specialist who also has legs and can tackle but offers threat too could be amazing.
Its great to have competition for places finally rathe than having to choose from Gomes, Davies, Allan who needs a hernia operation!

….my concern about watching him closely for England U21s this week (I admit to only watching the first half), was that everything was played ‘too safe’. He never took a single ball on the spin & played every pass the way he was facing, usually backwards or sidewards. On one occasion he put his own keeper under real pressure and his team nearly conceded.

Jack Rodwell played in a similar fashion & it flatters because he always retained possession but he wasn’t transitioning the team forward.

In his favour, Garner looks a good athlete and after he hit the bar with a terrific header he was much more progressive. Ashley Cole is centrally involved in the England U21 set up, I’m sure he must’ve mentioned Garner to Thelwell/Lampard.

Time will tell if we have a good one but I expect him to be down the pecking order in the immediate future.

That last sentence has brought on a wave of depression for me. I was trying to forget.

^^^^ analysis like that after watching 45 minutes of football? ?

….exactly, which is why I mentioned it. Not a fixed view, as you know it would be utterly stupid to have a fixed view after watching a young footballer for half a game :bye:

it was just an observation, clearly he was an integral part of Forests promotion push last season & i’m looking forward to seeing him get game time for us.

Plenty of progressive play here, perhaps playing a bit further up the pitch for Forest at times;

I wouldn't even hazard a guess on a player after seeing them for 45 minutes. That's ridiculous.

Was completely different second half. He’s in that side to just tick things over and keep possession. Played within himself but that was the system not the player.
