2025/26 Jack Grealish

But also it’s likely this is an accumulation of the amount of minutes he’s played and the amount of strain his body takes from being volleyed every match

Sadly we’re not killing off some games (not including villa in this that was massively hard fought with a bare bones side) but thinking to earlier in the season when there were games we could have killed off earlier and allowed likes of Grealish and kdh to come off earlier

It’s also Moyes who does not trust anyone outside the first Xi and makes far less subs than anyone in the league, even dyche is starting to mix things up more now knowing that every other side will make 5 subs

This isn’t something he could have done from Burnley onwards but previous to this he has flogged the likes of Grealish, Ndiaye , kdh to the bone, whereas every other player in those positions in the league bar maybe salah is getting subbed regularly to lessen their workload in what is becoming a much more physically demanding game than it was when Moyes first managed us

He could be back on Monday and you’d still make a doom scenario

Fact is he isn’t out for the season and will play for us again, barring set backs.

As always, you heard what everyone else had heard but twisted it into stuff like - he may never be the same again!

Catastrophise is your middle name
I never said he'd be out for the season. I said he'd be out for multiple months and that's probably the case based on all the reporting.

Missing say a dozen out of the last 16 games is bad for the team. The fact he might play 3 or 4 is not really a positive when he's arguably been the key player in the team.

I think we can get a favourable deal from City you know.

He'll have one year left, doubt too many clubs will want to pay 30 odd mil. They can't really afford to have him sitting around for a year on the wages he's on.

I wonder if it's Gareth Barry situation, another loan in summer 2026 with sweetener fee thrown on at the end if it's made permanent in summer 2027.
Well, they defo can! But I get your point.

Do we see an ageing and injury prone Grealish as a good investment at any price though? If City cut him loose a year early and we could get him on a free that's a no brainer for us. However, any fee into the £20Ms is not wise IMO - with high wages thrown in.

Your tone in all these posts was doom, as per your MO

Amusing how this freak injury has turned into the inevitable consequence of a professional footy player, who has only just turned 30, and played every game when available for Villa and a LOT of games for City barring that final season, playing 20 or so games.

I'm as big a cryarse as anyone when it comes to Moyes and his favourites but there was never any way we were gonna sign Grealish and not play him in every game.

...and you see where the injudicious use of him has got us: a player we paid a large loan deal for who we've had 20 games out of and no more than that.

Wouldn't it have been a far better strategy to play Grealish and then rest him every 3 games or so?....or have him come off the bench and limit game time that way?

This is a self-inflicted wound. There's not getting away from it.

Freak training ground injuries happen whether you play every game or spend all your time on the bench.

I'd also be surprised if Grealish himself - desperate as he was for first team footy - didn't insist on playing every match before signing for us.

Injury prone ?

This isn't a previous injury that's flared up again..

Send him out with our recruitment team whilst he's out, he could definitely sway a few heads..

Depends what they were doing t the time. no doubt a 'warm down' routine or whatever will be uses by Everton as the 'real' occurrence - no flys on them.

Yes, Grealish may have wanted to play every minute, but that's not really an argument as it's Everton who have control over the situation and when he plays and doesn't.
