It was the players...

Matt Damon

Player Valuation: £60m
who let Evertonians down yesterday.

Just like Bolton.

If players won't put their head or foot in (as in Jagileka and Distin not winning a single header in the first half yesterday)

then we are always going to struggle.

The basic things.

People may be blaming as usual Moyes... but that doesn't add up.

Since the manager can't make some players stick their head in and feet, like against Chelsea, then stop doing it another! These are meant to be professionals. They know whats expected from them. 110% every game.

Its the players attitude. Its also the Chairman's attitude. He was the one who wouldn't allow Moyes to freshen it up and is basically playing smoke-and-mirrors.

But yesterday for me the lack of OUR so called players scrapping for headers. Well that attitude from the players simply wasn't good enough.

The player's fault and they deserve a shouting at.

I have asked myself over the last few days our are players good enough now, do we overestimate them, have other clubs added so much in terms of quality - that our players just arent as good in comparrison anymore compared to other seasons. Certainly it seems we seem to have less players who in the past have made a difference - has the gap closed and the current players hit their limit in terms of quality and that not being good enough anymore.

You can't go on a run like we did last season and not be good enough.

However, whilst attitude and events conspired to allow us that run this time, for reasons described above - this time the opposite has happened.

SIMPLY THIS. THE MANAGER CAN'T MAKE A PLAYER JUMP UP AND PUT HIS HEAD ON THE BALL WITH ATTITUDE.

The players are conning Moyes by doing it one week, then not putting themselves about the next week.

And the problem is Moyes is unable to drop players who are doing this. He can drop one or two (Heitinga) until they buck their ideas up but can't replace underperforming players until they pick up - wholesale.

That's the fault of the chairman. He's denied Moyes flexibility in the squad this season.

He's possibly also restricted Moyes' ability to keep the attitude of the players right and focused.

So possibly it lies at the feet of the chairman. But certainly that's not an excuse for the players.

When players aren't attacking the ball like we saw yesterday there's only one person to blame. Thats the player.

I'd have no sympathy if Moyes sacked off one or two players. They've let him down and they've let us down.

And that Chairman. Don't even speak his name to me right now!

Have to agree with everything in this thread. I'm just scared that nothing will change when it really really need to. And as soon as possible.

I'm not even 100% sure what needs to change, the manager, the players, the board etc...it could even be all of it.

We so badly need freshening up it's frightening.

Whilst I agree with the basis of the comments I still think as manager Moyes needs to take some of the blame. I don't want him to leave or be pushed but he needs to take a long hard look at the players he's got to work with, the loans he's made and the tatics he employs. However I feel he's in too stuck in his ways to get rid of players that just aren't good enough, admit to errors in both the players he's loaned out and his tatics. But you feel that some of the decisions, whilst we are lead to believe are his, with regards to the players going out on loan are done for financial reasons rather than to benefit the team or the player.

I hope Moyes stays but uses between now and the end of the season to refelct on what should have been with his best squad and next season we make a better start.

OH.

And another thing. I was one of the fans who applauded the Reading players off the pitch.

They scrapped. Its a shame some of our players didn't do the same.

They let the fans down, they let the manager down and they let Everton FC down.

But then again so has "the chairman" this season.

Moyes needs a ****ing rocket up his arse or some top anti depressants though. No need to be that morose when you are managing EFC. He's shielded Kenwright through years of nil net spend, and it's time for Davie to grow some and confront the board publicly.

I dont mind getting beat because that what happens in football, but when i see 11 players not putting in 100% and looking like they really dident give a toss backing out of challenges not going in to win headers and not leaving the pitch covered in mud looking like they have put a shift in (see Chelsea last week) well guess what thats when i do mind losing,

Ive thought of nothing else all day in work and have a face like a slapped arse i honestly dont know where this club is headed

Thats my gripe with him he has to stop blowing smoke up the fat mincers backside.Moyes like everyone else has made mistakes this season and been below his high standards but nobody could do the job better for us than he has.He has earned this poor season off the back of his tenure here and i hope he is here for a long time to come because he wil win trophies

I did the same, Lower Gwladys.

I'll applaud effort.

100% agree.

If it's going to pan out the way we all fear (limping on next season with the sale of players like Fellaini to fund a couple of chance signings, and handing the rest over to the bank) then I'd have little respect left for Moyes if he put up with that. I think he's one more "my chairman does the best for me" statement away from being lumped in the same category as the toxic Kenwright.
