It was the players...

Matt Damon in Unmitigated David Moyes Defence
Ignores Evidence To The Contrary

Page 8: "Moyesie is my next door neighbour who I yearn for."

I dont see how Distin and Jags not going for headers as the reason to the 1 dimensional style of play, the lack of creativity in the final 3rd, the poor substitutions, and the ability to stop or prevent counter attacks that has been the curse of this season since the opening fixture....

The manager can't make the players play with bottle.

Why can't he?

Doesn't he fine players who pick up bookings for dissent? Doesn't he avoid signing any players who his mum wouldn't approve of?

The nice guys act is undoubtedly instilled from the management.

"Its the players" vs "Its the management"... Swings and roundabouts.

Its both

Close thread :)

There was enough quality out there to win it, the players were a disgrace to be honest. They deserves every bit of stick thrown at them, they couldn't get themselves motivated for one of the most important games of our season. An embarrassing, lethargic display.

Saying that, I always liked when Moyes first signed and we actually went after teams with a high tempo, that was boss. It's been mostly prudence since then.

Distin and Jagielka notbeing able to win headers (or even go up for them) is the fault of the players

Anichebe not being able to pass or shoot is his fault, as it was Heitinga'sfault for chickening out of that tackle against Blackpool.

On the other hand, Moyes selects the team and the tactics, its his job to motivate the players and when things are going wrong to try and put them right. Instead he looked fed up (as he did against Bolton)

Blame lies with both player and manager.

I'm not stubborn. I just don't fall for this "Moylez out" nonsense or that he's Stubborn or that he's a ditherer.

Oh and I don't care if you're cringing or not.

I was sat three foot from the pitch from where Baxter was supposedly playing at rightback. According to you.

When he wasn't. He went central when we actually went forward when Anichebe wasn't giving it away.

He spent 4 or so of his mighty 6 minutes there, I'll tell you that much.

At the end of the day, mate, this isn't a "please tick only one box" question. There are multiple parties at fault. To say Moyes is blameless is tunnel-visioned, as is saying he's the only one responsible. Which I'm not -- the players (Howard, Coleman, Becks and Baines aside) were shocking and didn't look that arsed, too. But the problem lies in numerous places, and that's why the problem's so big.

Why do you always ask if people went the game? It doesnt make sense, they would surely have a better opinion if they didnt, with the benefit of a better view, commentators, replays and stats...

...And he still effectively went at right back...as ive said - wether it was intended or not, so you cant question people when they say what they saw

Good points.

I NEVER go to the game and see more crap on the pitch that people seem to miss.

I was sat front row, lower bullens and Baxter was deployed on the right for the ridiculously short time on the pitch, covering and going forward, in fact a bit like Neville was doing and venturing just inside, when the ball fell to him, just like Neville was doing.
It's funny how people see the same thing differently but it is a game of opinions as well as facts

the crap that we witnessed is down to several factors been ...the board ..the manager ...the team and a very very small % the crowd at the game
i heard booing in the first half which i think is out of order....1 down at home with 50+mins left on the clock and we boo !!!!!!!

the knock on effect of that was the total lack of confidence anyone of them had on the ball in the 2nd half...WTF was baxter doin almost playin like aright back and the "frightened rabbit look" he had when he had to take athrow and the fact that our more exp players didnt even giv him options when they all knew we had to score or we are out !!!!!!!!!!!!!

i do believe DM as manager of EVERTON has to take some blame it cannot be exempt just because he didnt kick a ball????

i think if u play 4 5 1 u hav to be more direct ( than we were in the 1st 20mins) 2nd half we change it around( to a system that requires u knock it around and get people forward) and we go direct ?????
