Nobody ever bought a beer though, in the hope it might get them out of debt.
People have definitely bought a beer then another drink to try and get them to escape from how they’re feeling only to wake up feeling worse and rinse and repeat .

I will. In fact i'd stop associating myself with the club if we sank so far as a loans company.I am also sorry but there is little difference betting addiction and alcohol addiction. An addiction is a disease so for me, you should have the same stance on Chang as you do on SportPesa.
Alcohol adverts generally use emotional tools in their ads to get people drinking so, again, I see similarities with the complex computer algorithms to ensure people come back and bet more.
If we get a loan/credit card company next will you have the same views as they generally prey on the people who are inclined to get into more and more debt and lose houses, etc. etc.
I didn't mention feelings though, I said 'in the hope of getting out if debt'People have definitely bought a beer then another drink to try and get them to escape from how they’re feeling only to wake up feeling worse and rinse and repeat .
I’m not justifying anything, I’m simply saying that I can apply the same logic to betting that you do to alcohol. I’m not saying betting is great or cool or claiming it can’t be damaging, of course it can. For some reason you are suggesting that alcohol isn’t damaging though, despite the myriad of evidence that you’re wrong. You can lay into me if you like if you want to defend your vice so it sounds more acceptable in your head. We don't have to agree.
The issue here is about advertising an addictive pastime. I'd quite happily see all advertising scrapped. I've long lived by the observation that everything advertised mustn't be selling well (ergo it's crap).
Let's bin off beer advertising too. I don't think I've ever drunk a beer because it's been advertised.

It's the peddaling of false hope I dislike.
Didnt say harmlessMost countries regulate gambling quite stringently. If it was harmless that wouldn't be the case.

See my post above - also agree we could get rid of beer advertising.
And I did say 'almost' corinthian.
Unsurprisingly, this study suggests football’s promotion of gambling leads to problems with addiction and debt.
If we Evertonians are to be, rightly, proud of EITC, should we also be ashamed and actively try and change our close ties to gambling companies?

Couldn't agree more. And though betting isn't for me, I've git no problem with people doing it, it's their life and their cash to waste - but the advertising, the constant, incessant temotation if it around sport should be stopped. That’s what drink does as well though doesn’t it ? Same as every drug , when abused , it takes someone away from their problems and peddles a false idea of where they are and what their life is like presenting them with a false hope that everything is going to be ok if you put your problems out of your mind .
Don’t get me wrong I like a drink and I like a bet but I’ve seen people abuse both of them , let’s face it addiction is harmful and destructive.
No mate, I actively avoid responding to adverts. As soon as I see one (I tend not to watch advert infested tv) I make a note to swerve. Call me odd if you like but I pathologically detest the entire industry, their mind tricks and their visual litter that is scattered every where you look.OK, so you will stop supporting the club (or at least paying them any money) due to your ethics on how businesses operate but where do you stop, for example, confectionary companies - they create a world where diabetes is the norm.
If you have had problems with addiction or know close family or friends who have had problems I can understand your stance but having a betting company on their shirts does not, for me, change my views on Everton football club as an institution. It is not the be all and end all of what the club is and what is stands for.
Oh, and believe me you have drunk a beer because it has been advertised, you have bought a product/used a service because it was advertised. You may not think you have but you have.
Two of the best pastimes a man can have imoI drink and gamble.
A logo on a shirt means nothing to me.
I only opened a sportspesa account to bag a free shirt.
It's when I combine the two big style, that either very good.. or very bad things happen. Two of the best pastimes a man can have imo
