This is actually hitting deranged levels now at this stage.
Yep, pretty much every single person in the thread, apart from two, recognise and acknowledge that both hamas and Israel have committed atrocities.I think the irony is that you can be claiming one side of war crimes, whilst the other side has committed such crimes many times over as well.
Both sides are equally culpable.
Only one side illegally occupies another and breaking international law by doing so.Both sides are equally culpable.
I don't dispute that, yet I mean in terms of maltreatment of hostages/prisoners and the potential committing of war crimes.Only one side illegally occupies another and breaking international law by doing so.
Would you say that one side has committed them on a much larger scale and is backed by a world superpower?I don't dispute that, yet I mean in terms of maltreatment of hostages/prisoners and the potential committing of war crimes.
Again, I won't dispute that, and if you wish to peruse my comments in this thread from the beginning I've been critical of Israel's stance and its action.Would you say that one side has committed them on a much larger scale and is backed by a world superpower?
I just disagree with the statement that both sides are equally culpableAgain, I won't dispute that, and if you wish to peruse my comments in this thread from the beginning I've been critical of Israel's stance and its action.
I'm not defending Israel (the post you quoted has me mentioning committing crimes many times, over), nor am I defending Hamas.
thisI just disagree with the statement that both sides are equally culpable
Have they both committed atrocities? Yes, so they are equally culpable of that. Is the scale equal? No, but that wasn't the discussion.I just disagree with the statement that both sides are equally culpable
A lot of them Palestinians have never even been charged, and a lot are children.I ain't going to argue against media bias, especially with Western media and how they have portrayed Israeli actions vs Hamas.
But I do think this particular post is itself probably not the best example. The Palestinians were 'prisoners' in the sense they'd been arrested and convicted.
The validity of the laws and convictions are fair to question, and I do have serious and deep concerns about how many have been convicted and then treated.
However, you can see how, when media outlets, have gone against this narrative the response has been itself telling.

Isaac Herzog attacks BBC over false equivalence on Hamas hostages | The Jerusalem Post
Herzog called for an end to what he described as a “preposterous” narrative that equates Israel’s legal system with Hamas’s brutality.www.jpost.com
What I am saying is, I am more concerned with how these people are becoming 'prisoners' rather than questioning the BBC's use of it.
That is where the BBC should be focusing any media attention.
