2/3'ds of Palestinians want Hamas in control now, and after the war.
Quite amazingly, 20% see America as the reason they're at war in the first place - such is their hatred of the West.
Circumstances change. My point was that in 2006 Hamas promised change to Gazans but clearly just sought to gain power. Once in control, they have acted as a dictatorship who opened to the influence of Iran, who are not aligned to the hopes of Palestine. Similarly, I don't blame Russians for what Putin is doing in Ukraine. Look at polls there you will see similar, people expressing support for the chaos, hardship and huge loss of life, though if Putin went tomorrow I am sure the public sentiment would shift considerably. The man on the street generally wants a peaceful life with opportunity for his family. That is the same here, in Gaza, Ukraine or elsewhere.
Change is inevitable, but it's crucial to understand the control dictatorships exert over their populations. If you live in Russia and speak up against Putin bad stuff happens. Speak up against Hamas and you get some of this:
'The crackdown on freedom of expression and the use of torture in Gaza has reached alarming new levels', says the charity

It appears now that Hamas is concerned it could be losing a grip on power.

Despite the fear of what Hamas might do to the Gazan people they are finding the courage to speak out. What is on the other side of this will now forever be stained with inhumanity of Israels handling of the situation. The sad thing is that people lose sight, or haven't seen that the people of Gaza are trapped between both Hamas and Israel.
