Current Affairs Israel is an apartheid state

No, what is it?

It's actually officially called the ASPA - American service member protection Act.

Give the US the right to use all means necessary to free any current or former member of the US military who is being prosecuted by the ICC, the act also extends to sny member of an allied countries military (even those countries who are signitaries to the ICC).

The reason being it is that the US doesn't recognize the ICC as a legal court.

It also actually gives the US the right to invade any country retaining any member of the military on behalf (serving) an ICC warrant.

Mad though it is, I just cannot really see it happening.... can you? I mean actual boots on the ground in Europe..

The uk did NOT veto the call for an immediate ceasefire yesterday. The USA did of course

Just shows times may be changing

Not really - the UK often abstains or votes for UN resolutions against Israel. The key is though it's guaranteed to be allowed by the US to show 'independence'. If the veto didn't exist every single NATO and US ally would be voting against every Israel resolution as the US would make it clear they have to.

I hadn't, but that is pretty clear that Trump would be legally empowered to send US forces into the Netherlands to snatch him from ICC custody. What a mess that would become.

Trump would be all over this, what a mad situation
Good job everyone has taught the Dems, Kamala and Biden a lesson isn’t it

Doesn't ever have to happen, the law ensures zero allied country would ever enforce an ICC warrant against any US protected interest.

The Monroe doctrine is arguably even madder when you factor in it's original intent was to remove any European influence from that hemisphere with threat of force of arms being used.

So, there is no hope of them getting banged up? A token gesture only (the arrest warrants).

Yup, looks like they're trying to do something but everyone knows nothing will happen. The ICC in principle is something that should have been a true international system of justice, in practise it's never worked - think the only people ever prosecuted have all been African from memory (Milosevic died before any trial started)

I think there’s more chance than might appear - they’ve been very clear to make this about Netanyahu rather than the government, or Israel as a whole.

It is fairly obvious that unless he succeeds in establishing himself as a dictator that he’s going to face the Court for his corruption and probably how he brought that country to its knees, and in order to bring about some form of rapprochement later one might see a future Israeli government hand him over after he’s been disgraced by their own courts.

I mean, the man is transparently guilty even if you just look at his own words.

OK, so as long as he is no longer PM then he no longer falls under the ASPA?!

They may as well sign a warrant for Antonio Guterres just to not appear one sided.
