Current Affairs Israel is an apartheid state

Yes bombing people, and holding onto urban areas are very different things.

The other thing is, outside of Shia communities, Hezbollah are not massively popular. They will be an awful lot more popular following Israeli invasion into their country. So whatever strength Hezbollah had before, it will be substantially stronger now.

Hezbollah's popularity within Lebanon begins and ends with them giving the IDF a slapping here and there.

If the Israeli threat wasnt there, they would probably cease to exist with a few years. OFC the popularity of Netanyahu depends on there being some epochal threat that only he can solve, so to a degree Hezbollah (and Hamas) are codependent with him - they need each other so that the mass of each population doesnt notice how really not ideal they are.

Hezbollah would exist without Israel too mate, as Sunni extremism and the subjugation of Shia minorities is a very real concern.

It's clear for a lot of people on here, don't understand that basic premise. That there is a big theological divide between those factions of Islam.

TBF I think that can be overstated - it isn't as depressingly laughable as the split between Catholic and Orthodox, but like that one the split looks and seems bigger than it actually is.

When something comes along to bring the sides together, and this struggle over Israel / Palestine is certainly one of those things, the distance is a lot less.

Putting aside any moral concerns, which are terrible obviously , I think Isreal will now bomb the crap out of Irans oil/gas production, ports, as well as having a go at their nuclear facilities. If they are ever going to rid themselves of this evil puppet master of terrorists now is the time. If they don’t they will suffer for many years to come. Religious leaders in Iran have very firm beliefs, unfortunately it all ends in innocent deaths………

BBC rat reporter on Newsnight just now: "...and today we saw the IDF sadly suffering their first casualties".

SHUT

THEM

DOWN

Has anyone been catching this feller in the news on Ch4 and Sky?

He's an Iranian lecturer taking the utter piss out of idiot western hacks about their inconsistencies. Tremendous value for money, IMO.

Dont expect to see him on the BBC - the paedo enablers would be having palpation's broadcasting this feller's views.

I think they suspected Iran would bottle it and the Lebanese state.woild invite them in to ethnically cleanse South Lebanon. This would have been a huge error, as it won't just stop with the Shia community. That was their gamble though. Essentially show that Iran/Lebanon/Hezbollah wouldn't stand with Gaza when it came to the crunch. That has failed.

There's the usual sabre rattling as you get on the Eve of invasion. Wait till soldiers start coming home on body bags. They are not used to that, and Netanyahu was already on shaky ground before that. Severe pressure will be on Israel.
I agree. They'll look for a way out after bombing a 'message' to Iran.

The casualties they'll suffer in Lebanon will deter them.

This is all down to Netanyahu's permanent war polciuy to keep himself politically relevant.

Putting aside (or trying too) all biases this is an accurate analysis.lf what Israel may look to do.

Bombing nuclear facilities is extremely dangerous, I doubt we would need to water time discussing why.

Bombing oil fields is going to massively spike the cost of energy, and cause further inflation. It is the absolute last thing the majority of people in this country need. I think there is a very real question about whether we should spending money supporting this sort of action.

There is a challenging unity of sorts around it, largely because Israel has made it clear it will murder them all, whether Shia or Sunni. But let's be very clear, even if a Zionist state was not in place, an equivalent chavinism that exists in Zionist also exists within Sunni Islam. I don't think those contradictions dissipate.
