I doubt very much this is a warning shot, what it implies (for Hezbollah) is so serious that it would make them completely change communications and review security, which would probably detect other Israeli infiltration or at least make it more difficult.
It would make a lot more sense as the opening move in an attack.

I actually wonder whether this might have wider implications, the technology to explode a pager on an airline would be catastrophic.

The force this goes off with - bottom left video. It is rather alarming if, as some are reporting, that malware can cause a battery to overheat and explode.

I'm pretty sure that is not an overheating issue. IMO the force represents a detonated device.

Whatever Israel’s reasoning, and let’s be clear it’ll be Israel, it’s on a different level of preparation and calculating to orchestrate such an attack.
It may be a preliminary stage of an attack @tsubaki, but either way it’ll also cause widespread fear into them and open up communication.

Phones can and do explode, or ignite. There was a story some months back who was killed by a phone that she was playing with that blew up. Whatever has happened it will be interesting to understand what and how.

... to surmise that it's caused by an explosive component and not a lithium iron battery overheating. I won't show the graphic images of people injured.
However, you can see from this that there's some serious punch in these IEDs. This is asymmetric warfare on a new level, with their command and control targeted.

I do wonder what people like you want Israel to do. Hezbollah have sent rockets almost daily into Northern Israel causing evacuation of most homes on the border.
Bombardments into Gaza? Terrorism. Ground troops in Gaza to go into tunnels? Terrorism. Targeting Hezbollah members by detonating pagers that are on person? Terrorism.
Do you just want Israel to sit idle and do nothing? I think i know the answer - you don't want an Israel in the land of Israel.

At the risk of praising a war state/terrorist organization, am amazed at this attack; makes me want to rewatch Munich, except for the sadness of it all.

I see - but in the real world they are one in the same so your 'stand aside' ultimately means the destruction of the Israel.
