Just seeing this. No, I am a retired Civil Servant.

I am interested in how my Government responds to international affairs including what is happening in Gaza.

Something may be happening today - the horrors that are Smotrich and Ben-Gvir are active, the former having an emergency meeting with his party and the latter demanding that without going into Rafah the government has no mandate (!).

Elsewhere the head of a lesser Israeli party is calling for the Chief of Staff of the IDF quit because they dismissed one of the commanders involved in the WCK killings.

Ceasefire negotiations are either progressing (diplomatic sources) or not progressing (Hamas spokesperson) depending on who is talking.

We could easily talk about how large parts of the IDF are in essence a conscript army built on reservists, which brings in questions of standards and discipline.

But in reality, I just think it's something that the IDF allow if not actually promote. They see Hamas and Gazans like the dirt on a shoe, so treat them as much.

When you combine the two, this is what you're going to get. If you read some of the replies, the propaganda play book and dogma are in full swing.

"They're returning fire". Aye? So they'd just give indiscriminate fire, without looking and having a smoke with a smile on your face, is that was the case. Nah.
