Just reading David ‘pig bummer’ Cameron still using the ‘right to defend itself’ line makes me realise just how deep the tentacles of lobbying reach. 100 days later and 23,000 deaths as well as 70 % of buildings damaged is self defence

I genuinely despair

He still remembers the spanking he received when William Hague described Operation Cast Lead as "disproportionate".

For those that do not recall that, it was when the IDF killed 1400 people (of which 1000 plus were not fighters) because they discovered a tunnel was being built.

(edit: sorry, it was the invasion of Lebanon in 2006 that Hague described as disproportionate, not Cast Lead)

At least here in the US, the majority is not pro-Palestinian. Polling says people are split right down the middle. The divide is partisan, just like everything else, but partisanship is not as strong a predictor as it is on many other things.

Cameron was a member of Conservative Friends of Israel when he was PM. No idea if he still is, but it should give some idea of where his sympathies lie.

IIRC nearly all the parliamentary Tory party is part of CFI (80% has been reported), and probably all of those who harbour ambitions of being ministers.
