Current Affairs Israel is an apartheid state

Seeing a different solution and actually acknowledging a very complicated war is not clueless as shouting about ceasefire from thousands of miles away. With no idea how about getting one let alone achieving that outcome.
What harm can a ceasefire cause? Other than stopping the slaughter of up to 15,000 civilians I mean. This myth that Hamas will suddenly regroup - its just a ruse for Bibi to cause as much death and destruction as possible before he is told to stop.

Why has Hamas not given back the hostages?
If your answer isn’t “because they care more about killing Jews than caring about their own people”, then you have no idea who Israel is dealing with.
This is the elected Government of Gaza. Who’s job is to uplift their society, but who’s charter is about the destruction of all Jews.

I have taken all this time to come into this thread, as I know what the majority who post on here think, and although I can ignore it outside this thread, I got what I expected: the attack by Hamas is Israel’s fault, false maps, one sided history. Some people sounded just like Holocaust Deniers. So easy for people who consider themselves liberal to side with Terrorists and, yes people to, who hold none of their moral values against the supposed colonizers.. why? That’s the question Jews have been asking themselves for over 2000 years.
It is a difficult situation and certainly not one-sided.

The problem you will face in this thread, if you have not already, is that for some, generally the more left-activist types, Palestine is ingrained into their psyche, they are so conditioned that the very word sets them off. As I have mentioned earlier in this thread it is a dog whistle that triggers some. You'll see them come at me (again) for daring to suggest this.

If you look at what is horrific things happening in Ukraine it could reasonably be argued that it is a much worse situation. Everything that is happening in Gaza plus rape, murder, torture, and mass kidnapping of children to be reconditioned or worse. I say this not as if to suggest there should be a league table of horrors but more that if people genuinely care about such things you'd expect to see them active in both threads as they play out in real time. I'm not suggesting some are not but you will see many only caring to call out Israel's reaction to the recent terror attacks, as appalling as they are. Some also seem to have forgotten that there are a couple of hundred people being held hostage, including women and children. It is a truly horrific situation but is not one-sided, even though some won't see or admit to this fact.

Let us hope that the hostages get released ASAP and the fighting, from both sides, can be stopped, and let's be clear Hamas is still attacking Israel.

Its not a suggestion, it is an accusation. That is why people will 'come' at you.

Not as gratuitous as the idiot you are quoting accusing people of being holocaust deniers, but its a provocative one all the same.

Because we have been watching their suffering for decades.

Yeah I knew, and know what response any comment that doesn’t follow the official tagline would do. It’s why I never post and why I am not going to get into any back and forth now.

Responders also have no idea what my stance is part from its different to theirs… so it’s easier to slag one off than to answer the one question I asked:
Why has the official government of Gaza not released the hostages ?

Well that is how hostages work - a bargaining chip, leverage - why would Hamas release them? Israel have not stopped with their land grabs and attacks before or after the 7th october so why release them? I do not agree with taking them but now they have they may as well try to utilise them.

Thanks mate for a reasonable response… honestly appreciated…which is why I’m asking now to follow on: what do they think Israel is going to do to get them back? Open the border? Break down the wall? Stop building settlements? Pay $100m to the leaders of Hamas sitting in their penthouses in Qatar?

All it does is give them something to celebrate for 1 day, before they again have given Israel cause to clamp down even harder. The cycle continues. Israel fight back and will tighten controls, more innocent people die in Gaza, another generation of Hamas supporters are born and on we go.

Violence never leads to peace. Hamas have given Israel no reason to believe they want peace or trust them if they say they do. They have never accepted Israel’s right of existence even. As long as they are the ones controlling Gaza, Israel will always have the checkpoints, control the port etc etc.

Regarding the hostages, I agree with you. There seems little or nothing to be gained.

As for Hamas and Israel's right to exist.... existing is one thing, but doing everything they can to make sure Palestine does not exist is another. Hamas are a by-product of Israeli actions. The people of Palestine need to fight Israel's actions (they ALSO have the right to defend themselves....), that is without doubt however, with no palestinian army permitted by Israel who exactly do they have to do so? Who exactly is fighting their corner? The world watches on for decades while their oppressors take the absolute piss. What Hamas did is very, very wrong but what Israel do every day is, by accumulation, a lot worse.
