This may at first sound a bit obtuse, but… and? How is the above ultimately relevant to the situation, here and now? That’s just disgraceful tbh…6 million Jews were killed, six million…think about that number…next Sunday, Remembrance Sunday we will be paying respect to the 1.3 million British military killed since WW1…again look at the number 1,300,000, yet barely a quarter of what the Jews suffered in WW2…….
While not agreeing with Dave’s message, I really can’t see how mentioning the above could be justifiably used as any form of mitigation.
Firstly, we’re talking about the Israeli state, and not Jews. We’re talking about one state or group of people openly oppressing another.
I’ve talked about the principle of the bullied becoming the bully, but that’s not excusing it or saying it’s any less wrong. If anything, it’s worse.
Israel are not and have not been oppressed. What they are doing now, and in the past, cannot be narrowly viewed as against Hamas or whoever.
What they are doing now has far too many traits and similar to what the Germans, Russians and many others did to the Jews for my comfort.
In essence, you’re using false equivalence.
