Current Affairs Israel is an apartheid state

So no mention of wiping out Palestinians nor of continued attacks upon them, nor Israeli martyrs nor the death of innocents. Hamas believe that they can keep killing and hoping for the Arab world to come rushing in. The reality is that Israel is the most powerful military in the region. If Israel wanted to push every person from Gaza over the border into Egypt and flatten Gaza they could do so. Similarly they could push every Palestinian in the West Bank into Jordan they could do so and not one Arab country could stop them without Israel removing them from the planet. That’s the reality. But they don’t do they, they know the UN is already against them anyway and no matter what they do they are the bad guys. I think that if this continues as is then within the next few years this is exactly what they will do. Hamas and their supporters really need to understand the reality…..

And that is exactly what they are doing, just slowly and covertly enough that it keeps it out of the world's disapproving eye and doesn't spark a wider conflagration that costs them a huge amount of Israeli lives. They've always been playing the long game.

You seem to have ignored everything anyone's written about the settlement movement in the West Bank and how it dictates Israeli policy. It hasn't stopped since the first settlers moved on to the West Bank in the early 70's.

Hamas are the symptom. The Occupation is the root cause.

Oh, I've tried to do my bit. I was involved in setting up a group that advocated for the Palestinian cause in my town 16 years ago, I've organised events, been on demos, read more books on the subject than I can remember. I've worked with, lived with and travelled with Israelis, too. Most people only care when there's massive loss of life.

I did end up leaving the group I helped set up, mind, after a falling out with an antisemite who joined later. One of these morons who blame "the zionists" for all the worlds ills. You could predict it, sadly

I want both sides to put down the gun. I want both sides to negotiate a way to live together. I want an end to terrorism and an end to innocent deaths. There was an ongoing campaign of boycott, (similar to the ones in the 70s that we remember don't we Pete?) akin to the boycotts against South Africa.
But you wouldn't know because Israel was in its comfort zone daily stealing homes, kidnapping children at gun point, and with an embargo on goods, medicines and services to Gaza and the West Bank. There was an increasing influx of settlers and weekly land grabs in place too. Oh and sporadic public murders.
But you knew that didn't you, but it didn't matter until October 7th, that's when you became interested in the deaths of innocents.

That’s true unfortunately. Similar situation with the Uyghurs in China and no doubt many other groups around the globe. We pay little attention until an act of revulsion takes place……
