Is this wrong?

We are desperate to win this game. Lose or draw this one and we'll also lose the next three games, no question. That can easily be the slippery slope out of the PL. I get the reasoning but it's a luxury we cant afford.

If we dont win, however, the board needs to axe SA and install a new boss for next week.

Totally agree.

We simply can't afford to lose this match.

The sort of players that will "down tools" in order to try to force a sacking are not the sort of players you want anywhere near your club.

You could make the argument that prioritizing talent over character has played no small part in the uneven mess that has been the post-Moyes era.

Personally, I hope that the players go out and give it their all even if the manager is asking them to be a square peg in a round hole. I also hope that the board is clear-eyed enough to see any ongoing misuse of talent by the manager and make the appropriate response.

I hope for these things because, in my opinion, we are utterly adrift unless both of those things hold. Since the manager is such an easy problem to cure, it's the spirit of the players and the willingness of the board to do what must be done that are essential. Turning over the roster wholesale is not easy, and the fans have little enough ability to remove the board (by not buying tickets and imperiling the club financially) when the broadcasting contract represents the bulk of the club's revenue.

It is wrong but surely they've down tools already, if they haven't I despair at the new depths of crapness they can reach

We have issues with Sam to put it mildly , but wanting our players to down tools , thats like saying to get Sam out we need to need to convert to the other lot over the park in protest - madness !

I want the players to down tools on Saturday, to hopefully ensure the aim of saying goodbye to SA within hours of the "performance". We can get the points to ensure our status without him. I do feel guilty hoping we don`t perform (and so I should), but I can`t help myself!

I can see your point. It'd be great if the players downed tools in one of the only fixtures that this manager and team are capable of getting a result from (a home game against a side outside the top 7). We may then lose at Stoke due to our pathetic away record, and City and the RS will be too good for us but that shouldn't matter too much.

With us deep in relegation trouble, none of this will matter because Moshiri will go out and lure Thomas Tuchel or Carlo Ancelotti who will come in and save the day. These players will finally start to show that the only reason they weren't performing was because they were unhappy with the manager and we will then start to see free flowing football from this hard working Everton side.

No Everton player should ever ‘down tools’ regardless of the circumstances.

Anyone who does shouldn’t be at the club.

They massively contributed to this mess of a season, they should step up and sort it out.

Forget professional pride, first and foremost show some personal pride and get out there and play to win.

Would you down tools because you didn't like your manager? No, because you'd be sacked quicker than him. This is the issue with these big salaries. I expect every player who ever pulls over a jersey emblazoned with the Everton crest to want, to need to put their body on the line. If they want shot of the manager then they should do the work on the pitch and make a collective appeal to the board about their working 'conditions'.
