Is Premier League Boring?

Be better now Leeds are back in town . Great day yesterday now the hard work begins. The Championship is a hard slog but the PL is going to present us with a whole set of new problems. Hopefully we get 6 quality players in. Starting with a good keeper a left back some strong centre mids and 2 genuine goal scorers that are strong and quick. Sounds easy . In a different position from Radrizzani era 49ers Westfield Red Bull (Klopp) in background might make a fist of it this time.
Proper club are Leeds so congratulations on your promotion 👍

It isn't that RS are going to win title that bothers me, it's lack of challenge from other clubs. When City won league in 2018, they were simply far better than anyone else. RS aren't that great, hence why the 1st decent side, they played in Europe they got outplayed in both legs. Another issue is VAR, RS should on won title in 2022, had it not been for VAR denying a clear handball by Rodri. When we scored last minute goals against Fulham and West Ham, VAR didn't spend 5 minutes looking for reason to disallow them. When we scored against RS in last minute, VAR looked at it for 5 minutes, 1st to make sure it wasn't offside, then for a foul in build up. Our penalty against Arsenal was far softer, than penalty we were denied against United. Salah continually dives, yet only Niasse was punished for diving. I have no issue with teams winning things fairly, but titles shouldn't be won or lost based on decisions of some unaccountable bellends on an industrial park somewhere. Look at how quickly they released audio, when RS got decision against them vs Spurs. There wasn't any demand from media, that VAR audio should of been released, when we were denied a stone wall penalty against City.

Years ago on RAWK when Fergie kepting winning titles for Man Utd. They only won them according to RAWK because Fergie has control of the Refs and a hold on the FA.

It was all far fetched imaginary stuff because they were blinded by hate and couldn't admit that United deserved to win.

This is you now. You will be calling for boycotts next.

I don't think it's boring in general, but the way certain clubs are treated extremely leniently by officials has got incredibly boring. I have no doubt that Liverpool have gained about 10 points minimum this year based on officiating bias alone. They'd have still won the league without it, which makes it all the more annoying. But the fact that the league has generally been so open this year makes it exciting I'd say, yet clearly less exciting if you're an Everton fan and know that the club isn't finishing in a position that can really be celebrated. Neutral onlookers will see the likes of Forest, Newcastle and Villa challenging and think it's great. Hopefully Everton can join that party next season as it's clear the gap is as small as it's probably ever been.

The main reason why people will be saying it is boring is due to Liverpool about to win it.
No

I've been saying for years that the game is on a slippery slope, even when they were miles off themselves.

This league has become so sanitised, suffocated by ridiculous amounts of money, foreign influence off the pitch and is over-engineered to be point were corruption is not only possible but it's practically already there in the plain sight, that it's really difficult to enjoy it or even take it seriously anymore - and that's despite the media doing everything in their power to turn it into a product and a spectacle rather than an actual sport.. bit like pro wrestling.

It's honestly a bit crap.

Offsides have taken too long since the Spurs incident you mentioned (obviously VAR's worst mistake), hopefully the semi-automated will put a stop to that, but I'm not too convinced. Apart from that, that Tarkowski goal was just VAR doing its job - if they wanted to disallow it they would've done. Palace's goal against us took ages, were they desperately trying to rule that out?

It's like you take every single niche of what referees do and twist it to make it look like there's an agenda against Everton, no matter what the context. VAR is bad for the game, and there is an inherent bias involved in 'big' decisions. That's bad enough, it doesn't need to be conspiracied up to the maximum.

I'm convinced VAR take their time purposefully in order to feign a degree of interest in nothing decisions, especially for TV. Wouldn't surprise me at all if the next step will be commercial breaks during VAR, "The decision is through, VAR has decided,..................we'll tell you after this short break from our sponsors" followed by ten seconds of Spitty Carragher and Jeff Stelling telling us the SkyBet odds on the match result.

Fortunately my red mates will back me up by saying my views on football at the top level aren't anything to do with Liverpool winning the league this season (a lot of us are old enough to remember them being a far more dominant force than they are nowadays)

Guardiola for me was the tipping point - essentially, football at the top level has become about striving for perfection. Data, sports science and the rules of the game evolving have created a scenario where clever coaches can essentially take most of the jeopardy out of the game. 80% possession and a team of players earning sums that mid table teams couldn't possibly dream of ever paying without falling foul of the rules.

I said the same thing when he was at Barcelona - the style he plays and the greater understanding of tactics in the modern rules effectively kill the jeopardy in the game for a lot of the time. This isn't a dig at him, because if he hadn't done it then someone else would have. But other managers, aided by data-driven recruitment and money that most other teams can't spend because of FFP/PSR have added their own takes to this - Klopp would be a good example.

Liverpool are the best team in the league this season, but TBH my opinion has nothing to do with them - they're the only team all season who've looked remotely like potential title challengers. Everyone else has fallen away from their level of previous seasons for one reason or another.

Essentially, modern football (not just the PL, but we are certainly the worst culprits) has become sterilised - laws of the game and financial rules, combined with modern data analysis and greater tactical understanding and technical coaching from a young age has changed everything - the sport is an entirely different spectacle to what it was 20- years ago, and the actual product on the pitch suffers for that IMO. We get less individuality, less scope for teams who aren't the established elite to break into it, less jeopardy in games, thousands of passes to suck the life out of atmospheres etc etc. It's been a perfect storm and no one thing is to blame, it's just a product of everything that's happened in the last two decades or so

Few bob still to play for in the PSR championship.

Spot on.

This is a big part of the reason why I've waxed lyrical about PSG this season - a team made up of quality, young players who play with freedom and confidence in their abilities and - most importantly - aren't 'engineered' to strictly play a certain way. A genuine joy to watch.

The Premier League could do with a few teams like them... and no - your Forests, Bournemouth's, Brighton's et al just simply do not count.

They won league this season, because they've had no proper competition, as Richard Keys was talking about on bein sports. We managed to comfortably draw against Arsenal and Chelsea under Dyche. Arsenal have had countless injuries to vital attacking players, Liverpool haven't. They have got very lucky that Salah hasn't got injured, with him they'd be screwed.
