Is our Great club jinxed?

Yes....but we have hired two managers since whose defensive nous and set piece defending is every bit as suspect as Roberto’s, despite us being led to believe that was their forte.

And they do not even have the saving grace of Roberto’s teams which at times scored for fun.

Given the choice between Roberto, Moonhead and Sam....the Spaniard gets my vote hands down ;)
Defending hasn't been as bad under allardyce as it was under koeman. Last season under koeman defensively we were quite good also. This year o have said before that it appeared to me koeman gave up and waited for his payoff following the summer .

Martinez for me still is an ideologist only. Swansea got to where they got to not because of Martinez but in spite of him. It was the work done by his successors that turned them from a average fancy championship team into one who were solid. So when he came here, my personal belief is that the first season was the odd one out because the team had spent all their Everton careers shackled by moyes. So a combination of new players (rare for the club) and attacking mentality drove the team on to the point of almost successful. Once that went away and the defence were fully martinezed, that's when it fell apart.

That derby defeat defensively was embarrassing. The defence played a basic hold their line tactic that you find in Sunday league

It certainly did.

As an aside, 50% of all residential buildings in the city of Liverpool were either damaged or completely destroyed by the Luftwaffe. And over 4,000 civilians in the Merseyside area were killed by Luftwaffe bombs.

Here's Goodison just after it was hit.

I came into this thread thinking I’d regret it, but this picture is amazing. Literally can’t stop looking at it. I’m a real geek for stuff like this. @Groucho you seen this?

We just have had bad managers and the DofF hasn't been good, either. Simply need better management. The money seems to be there.

Make that change headed into the summer, new manager with modern ideas about the game, and transform the squad.

We have played the most top fight seasons in world football and are the 5th (?) most successful club in England.

We are hardly cursed.

Try being a Leyton Orient or Blackpool fan or example.

Not jinxed, just utterly mismanaged top to bottom.

EitC the only positive in the last 20 odd years.

That said (besides the once in a generation Leicester fluke) the gulf between the Sky Big 6 and the rest has never been bigger.

FM is going to need VERY deep pockets & a new stadium to bridge the gap.

Some Blackpool fans I know have totally given up on their club . Now go and watch AFC Fylde .
Us Evertonians just CANNOT do that . The club isn't jinxed . We are :D

Dunno but we do have a massive inferiority complex.

...And mercenaries for players.

All the above fair enough, I've learned 3 (probably more but these 3 will do) things about Everton;

1) We don't 'do' dynasties, like the mancs and rs did... I dont know why, but there it is.
2) We're like the little girl with the little curl...when we're good, we're very, very good - when we're bad we're horrid
3) Statistically, since 1900, or some other long ago bench mark, we average out at 9th...and where are we right now?

9th

We are So jinxed it ain't true

Add to that the rs selling their Shankly red soul to himself...its a wonder we're not in the Zingari League by now

Definitely jinxed, two world wars broke out just as we were crowned champions. Best Everton team ever 85 coincided with European ban.
Hanson hand ball 84, Bryan Hamilton 77 semi final.
Southall getting injured in title run in in 86 costs us the double in my opinion.
Endless players getting leg breaks in the last few years,Oviedo,Coleman now Mccarthy,Bolasie also out a year just after signing.
The list goes on for our misfortune.
