Make it stop. As if they haven't trashed it enough. The Americanisation of football is a putrid nonsense.

Its definitely time. Its been coming for years and years now and I've got to the point where I actively hate the whole sport. I used to watch every single game I possibly could but I just hate everything about modern football. Blind loyalty and love for the club along with memories of how much I used to love the game is all that keeps me going to watch the blues at this point and even with that it feels like a chore most of the time now. With the ever increasing cost of attending I think it likely that I'll tap out in the near future as a matter of principle as I'm not prepared to pay over a thousand pounds for a season ticket. I'm just not. It'll hurt to give up something that I've had since I was four years and going to the match with my Grandad but I guess I'll just have to find alternative ways to ruin my weekends!😂

I don't agree with the myth that football standards is the best its ever been. Try to watch a game these days. Its dreadful. Aside from the terrible refereeing and the endless breaks for non-var decisions that the refs will still get wrong, its just boring. Everyone seems to have adopted the tedious sideways passes thing that only the top clubs can do well. Everyone else is varying shades of crap at it. You combine that with endless dives and crying from grown men because of gust of wind him them and it just becomes unwatchable. I can't remember the last time I saw a legitimately good game of football but its been years.

Its grim isnt it.

Boring samey samey football by almost every team
To many people at the game are just spectators and not fans, they dont add nothing to the atmosphere.
The price is ridiculous
The standard is so poor, this is why people like Declan Rice are getting labelled world class, couldnt lace the boots of proper world class players.
Referees are houshold names and even there own slot on TV 'koff you useless gets.

It makes more sense when framed as an oligarchy. The owners are in complete control in the NFL in a way they are not in other leagues, and they work together to ensure the overall value of the product continues to go up for their own financial benefit.

It's a closed shop with strong limits on how much can be spent (i.e. paid to the workers that people are coming to see).

It does work to create a much more level playing field competitively as well, but it's not from a socialist perspective.

I wouldn't describe it as socialist. I would describe it as corporate communism: you basically cannot leave as there is no relegation. A closed shop. A proper iron curtain.

Not going to deny any of that as it is true but it's great that they have a level playing field and not one team owned by a nation can spend obscene amounts of money to win the league.

At least with the NFL you can go from being the worst team in both conferences and getting the first pick in the draft and become a contender again.

You can't get that in the premier League these days.

NFL having a short season compared to the premier League makes you enjoy it more.

Sometimes less is more.

I dont buy the whole, "less is more" when it comes to certain sports.
If your watching footy aswell than fair play..
But if NFL is your priority sport, no way. it comes and goes in a flash.
It plays out off the field like it does on the field.
Just waiting and waiting for something to happen..
You can get sucked in more by all things around the sport, than the actual watching of the game..

It's a soap opera..

The system itself works mate but it needs people who show no bias and show consistency, and there lies the problem with it.
It doesn't. Football is a neverending spectrum of things that can happen being forced into quite rigid rules, often not lining up with what the general public thinks they should be. Every time VAR analyses a borderline decision with a microscope there are people arguing for both sides, each arguing that theirs is the non-biased, consistent view. The 'bigger' the decision, i.e. which 'big six' team is involved, the more pressure there is. It is impossible for anyone not to be influenced when making these decisions, partly because they worry about their jobs and partly because some people might threaten to kill their families. This means those five minute gaps in play are inevitable. There is no one who is able to make decisions which are perceived as 'right' by everyone 100% of the time, they'd be some kind of robot.

If you went through with a fan the decisions affecting any team and asked their view, there'd be some massive contradictions, but they'll tell you they're right. Football can't be like that. I'd take refereeing mistakes before five minute gaps and then a refereeing mistake any day.

Someone will write 'Harry Redknapp the musical' yet...

Have you been alright recently ? sure I haven't seen as much of you.
Unless I've just been stuck in E-Sector to much..
Well noticed, I've had something of a lifestyle change recently, (after a serious bout of fever) and I've been warned I can't go on like I was. So now I dislike my lot more than I did before. Help me find someone to do radio comms in the match threads, the board must be bored spitless of my shenanigans by now.

Aslong as your feeling more up to yourself now than..

Nobody could follow on from your matchday comms, that position would have to be "Retired"..

Whatever this version of “football” is, it’s not what we had and is to put it midly, a load of 💩.

That was my opinion before VAR, which had somehow been implemented abysmally and made things 100 times worse.

Then the moving of nearly all our kickoffs and hardly having any Saturday games has been a proper grind this season.

Im possibly missing Goodison also, even though I love the new place, the tradition and new matchday routines has definitely had an impact on my enjoyment and love of the game.

Any boycott to drive change or make a difference would have to be properly organised and involve numerous clubs outside the scab6, not just us. which will never happen so no point.

Besides all that, I still love Everton, going the game with my kids and catching up with toffees and good mates, so I’ll prob never stop until I kark it or it’s physically too much for me.
