My cynical prediction.

Iran will quieten down and carry on as normal with Israel will getting a full run at Palestine as part of the deal. If that means ditching support for Ukraine to make sure Iran doesn't get help from Russia in bringing Iran into nuclear weapons territory then it's not as if Trump was looking for an excuse anyway.

US then potentially goes into a trade war with China.

Interesting times hey?

I agree it will be economic suicide if they don’t quieten down.

To bring freedom and democracy, to free the oppressed women.

Yanno like they did in Iraq (lovely bastion of middle eastern democracy now), Afghanistan (women's rights never been better), Egypt (how are those slave markets going..)
 
At what point are people gonna stop living the lie that freedom and democracy at all matter to the West btw?

Just a small list.

El Salvador, Chile, Nicaragua, South Korea (twice), Iran (Shah), Egypt, the Ukraine, Vietnam, Grenada, Panama.

Stopped at that point as the list was getting depressingly long already and still only touching the surface...

At least three of these countries had a legitimately elected democratic leader at the time, in all of them the US funded undemocratic opposition to overthrow or attempt to overthrow the leader, millions dead, millions displaced, democracy for years not even close in any of them.

But yeah freedom and democracy is what it was all in the name of.

Oil is part of it, yet it's not unrealistic to assume an element of their rationale is to instil change in government that either...

... a) allows US coercion within that nation, or b) causes a level of instability that will have a positive impact on US allies and/or a negative impact on its foes.

You could say Iraq was about oil, but you had a once strong and influential nation in the region now filled with turmoil and no longer having that impact.

Replace Iraq with Libya, and you see the similarities. What's the ol' saying... divide and conquer.

Oil, maintaining the rules based order (what the US wants it does and you better do to), creating a s system of forever war to feed the MIC, ensuring the US abd its 'allies' has a cheap source of raw materials and slave labour to allow it's citizens to live in relative comfort whilst exploiting the works - does allow the to come onto forums and soapbox about morale virtue though and not do we have a lot of that in here. Nearest 99% ever got to doing anything is changing their profile picture to a suitable flag and picking the one cause they'll try to act all concerned about. Don't see much about Afghan or Iraq in these threads anymore, nah it's now about Ukraine, Iran, Israel.

Few years time they won't get a mention anymore and the same people will be procrastinating about China or Korea or whatever their told is the new thing to be morally outraged over.

They will run out of countries soon enough..

It'll not be long until they invade Canada for their water supplies...
