Petrol prices will go up as well.....

Thats why the US/EU and Nato would be dragged in to protect our allies by treaty anyway.

When countries talk about "national security" they don't just mean from miltary attack on themselves, they mean economic too.

Protecting the oil producing nations - protects our way of life because our economies are still predominantly hydrocarbon based.

And why I mention Nato. is because Iran now has ballistic missles able to hit Paris, and shorter range that can hit Turkey and Greece, both Nato members.

Yet Gordon in his *infinite wisdom* and his ******* cronies are cutting the defence budget *again*

Don't worry lads just wait till they start to [Poor language removed] North Korea saying ours is bigger. Then the [Poor language removed] will hit the fan.

All this sabre rattling will unfortunately hit the little guy the most in the petrol pocket.

Real story: Iran has means to enrich uranium for a civil nuclear programme - at a grade way below what's required for a bomb (the West having dragged their feet on stopping the Iranians from having to enrich at all by demands attached to enriching the raw material for them in the West and exporting it back to Iran - something the Iranians still would agree to under the right conditions). The West have now seen how weak the opposition really is to the theocracy ruling Iran - demonstrated yesterday by the millions who flocked to support it on the streets with barely a few thousand opposing them. Any notion that the regime in Tehran will implode is now laughable. The only nuclear power in the region, Israel, will no doubt now be let off the leash to 'stop the mad Iranians producing the bomb' and regime change will be attempted post attack...a Western corporate friendly regime installed in its place.

Are people that thick they dont see this so soon after Iraq???!!!

Go tell it on the mountain! Gotta protect the oil supplies..North Korea doesn't come into this equation...so they will be left alone to develop long-rang balistic weapons with nuclear payloads....Until someone in Norad says feck me what was that flash coming from Pyongyang....Oh [Poor language removed] maybe we should have sorted them out as well..

Nooooooooooooooo

That's rubbish. There wasn't anything close to one million 'flocking to support the regime on the streets', never mind millions. And there were widespread outbreaks of fighting between supporters of the opposition and supporters of Ahmedinejad. Dont know where you pulled that from.

Didn't they have mass arrests of all prominent opposition people prior to this. I.E cut off the Hydras many heads. Could be a factor why the opposition numbers were smaller than expected.

You cannot believe anything about Iran. Unless it is pro-government press like back in the old USSR or Mao's China you have not a clue as to what is actually happening.

Simple question Dave if this country was attacked what would you do as regards defending it?
