Biggest surprise for me was that our second Martinez season was actually our best defensive season (just the mistakes we did make were huge mistakes and punished easily). We then went from 3rd best to 18th best in 1 season when he lost the plot.

For those interested in such things we did see a massive improvement against Chelsea reflected in the stats.

For the first time this season our pass maps show players in proper positions with a proper shape. Our expected goals for and against showed a huge improvement too.

As I've always said the shape matters more than the best XI being on the pitch. Thankfully Unsy seems to realise that. Not sure what that means for a lot of our summer signings though.
