Injury woes: Hamstrings

Didn't Moyes engage external fitness experts the same ones who are currently trying to mend Sturridge (good luck)? I don't understand why the club don't invest more in a more scientific approach to player fitness. Having a fit squad is such an advantage but instead we have players pulling up all over the place and those with long term injuries getting reinjured or just taking ages to get fit. Should just outsource player fitness to a specialist group who stay with us the whole season, tailor individual fitness programmes, and review all training sessions. Clearly the current medical department just don't cut it.

Most of the top modern day players have their own advisors as well as using the clubs (fitness and medical), it was one of the reasons Baz Rathbone left the club. He said he'd often get caught between his own opinion, diagnosis and rehab and the players personal advisors and opinions all butting heads while the management team want the player to return as quickly as possible.

It became to much of an impossible position and he'd had enough he said.

Which is a huge issue because if you bring someone back too soon (like Mccarthy last season) you are only making it worse. This was one of the huge issues with Big Dunc, they always brought him back too early so he kept on having problems with his injuries.

We get so many injuries especially hamstrings, they are doing something really wrong in training and I hope they realize this and fix it SOON.

So in actual fact when Martinez came in the numbers of injuries stayed lower than Moyes.

Interesting. @MoutsGoat

Looks like Besic is made of glass.

Poor S&C programme.

Hamstrings usually go because they are compensating for muscle and joint weaknesses elsewhere.

Get it sorted Bobby ffs.
Seek advice and help.
I know about 5 lads who could go over and improve things, for the annual price of what a players earns in a week.

Is it actually as bad as people are making out?

Martinez Gives Injury Update

Roberto Martinez has moved to allay injury concerns surrounding Romelu Lukaku.

The Club-record signing, who netted a hat-trick against Hearts last time out, was withdrawn on 32 minutes during the Blues’ 2-0 win over Dundee at Dens Park.

But Martinez insists the substitution was only made as a precaution and says focus will now turn to getting everyone prepared for next weekend’s games against Leeds United and Villarreal.

“Rom has obviously been playing a lot of minutes and it was important for him to get some sort of action,” the Blues boss told evertontv. “After the first 25 minutes, he was feeling his legs were a little bit too heavy and we didn’t want to take any risks.

I have no medical knowledge but I believe this is true. Stronger bones and fitter body tends to absorb impact better.

Any facts to support this theory mate?

We average over the last 5 years 5 injuries in July.

10 in August.

We're on 6 (2015/2016 season July)

Nothing unusual.

People like @MoutsGoat moaning because Besic has a glass chin.

Interesting... but there's still a worrying frequency of hamstring injuries and/or 'muscle fatigue' - which seems to be a relatively new pattern.

Possibly something the players were doing in the summer?

players trying to keep fit after earlier injuries them selves?

Mcgeady did his on international duty and its described as 'persistent'

Delafeo did his hamstring last season too when he wasn't even here

The flights to Thailand? Also an impact.

In the league at this minute there are 8 out with hamstring problems. The rest of league has 4, the other 4 are from Everton. We are either not doing something right, or we are doing something very wrong
