Infinity War (SPOILERS)

Yep. They can pretty much make the same movie over and over and the cycle of money will keep whirling. Some will even call each installment a pioneering triumph of moviemaking and call for recognition of superhero films at the Oscars. I'm not even mad like, I'm impressed.

I did, but I can't help but feel that, without Brolin, it was an utterly average installment in the franchise that was full of the sorts of plotholes you normally hate. It was nowhere near the level of Civil War or Winter Soldier, all things considered.

Think utterly average is somewhat harsh, though there are obviously several plot holes (although what movie doesn't have them?). Interesting take on it in the Guardian: https://www.theguardian.com/film/2018/may/01/avengers-infinity-war-hollywood-tv-box-sets

Somewhat fits in with my view, where certain elements didn't affect me as much as they could have, as I have largely dipped in and out of the MCU.

Media bias? And again your negating what a film is supposed to do rather than your opinion of it.
Which is?

A studio can only make a good film. It can't be held accountable if for some bizzare reason it's held to a higher standard and called out for doing the exact same things it's competition does. Bias is the only way to describe it at this stage. They try and go a diffrent darker route and critics moan that it's not like Marvel so they try and take certain Marvel themes and the same critics attack them for copying. They can't win. The mouse has spoken and the gullible sheep follow.

Frankly DC shouldn't bother anymore. There's literally nothing that they can do. They could make the greatest film ever and it wouldn't make as much as the latest marvel instalment because hating on DC and blindly loving marvel is the "cool thing" to do right now.

Well now that's just not right. No comic fan in their right mind wants DC to fail. The Dark Knight made a billion dollars before making a billion dollars was a thing. It was a critically acclaimed masterpiece of a film, helmed by the best Director of his generation starring two fabulous actors at the top of their game.

Thats the DC comic book film standard and it defines DC on screen. Why couldn't they model their own world on the best thing they've done so far? DC has an incredible catalogue of characters and stories which they won't or can't develop for the screen. Much more than Marvel.

I don't get this persecution complex. A rubbish film is a rubbish film.

My favourite DC film is Watchmen. I would probably watch that over any Marvel film bar possibly Cap 2.

Excellent film. Amazing, since I think Snyder is terrible generally.

On your other point about DC films, I think Nolan essentially ruled out any chance of his Batman being involved in a wider DC universe because his universe had such an emphasis on realism. Which is good. Superman is a crap superhero imo, he doesn't translate well to screen because he is literally indestructible and his powers read like they were randomly selected using darts thrown at a board.

I think their biggest mistake was introducing their main characters right off the bat. In hindsight building up to a Batman and a Superman / Wonder Woman movie was probably the right way to do it.

The Dark Knight Batman triolgy began before the Marvel cinematic universe started and concluded before it really took off. Watchmen was made in 2012 before the first Avengers film changed the game. Neither of them would be successful were they made today despite the fact that they are obviously better then most films.

There is no persecution complex. It's simply people noticing that one company is held to a higher standard then the other. You say a bad film is a bad film yet a POS like Ragnarok gets praised!

As for saying comic fans don't want DC to fail. Well you must know that comic fans make up a very small percentage of a comic movies audiance. It's a diffrent ball game now. A very large number of hipsters do want want one company to fail rather then have them both flourish.

Am afraid the creation of a cinematic universe was the game changer and much like us with the creation of the premier league DC have missed bus. They won't be able to catch now no matter what they do. They can and should aim to make a better standard of films but they absolutely won't ever make as much as marvel does regardless of said films quality.

They were trying to catch up and basically just reading trends Marvel had already set by the time they started. Wonder Woman was a great film, but I'm of the opinion that nothing good can be made in the live action realm about Superman or with Superman involved. I include the Reeves films in that.

Not a lot you can do if Superman can literally flatten anything (unless they have a green rock)

Of course they'll catch up. It's funny that TDK and Iron Man came out in the same year, 2008, and here we are 10 years later. Watchmen was 2009.

Ragnarok is genius. If you can't laugh at a TV Show with Jeff Goldblum making out with purple space tentacles then comedy ain't your thing.
