TBF, he's put off any Scousers from going to their company for legal representation now, they have probably lost 50% of their defence business.

In all seriousness, how can a man that works on such wide generalisations as that, be expected to stand in defence or indeed prosection on behalf of anyone. Any lawyer worth their salt would prey on that right from the very start in any hearing. It lessens his ability to do his job, therefore, not worth anything to the company.

This is true 100%. The people making out the "why can't you get angry at football and not lose your job" stuff are missing the point (as well as being stuck in a time warp).

His job as a lawyer is to represent wealthy clients and articulate their side of the story in court. His job requires him to be logical, in control and persuasive.

Rightly or wrongly part of his job also requires him to behave to a certain standard and ethos in public spaces outside of the work environment. In many ways it's a bit annoying, but it goes with the territory. He is paid very well for having to make this sacrifice.

As you have said, the moment he got to caught his stock will be undermined by this incident hence why it is grounds for gross misconduct. It greatly damages his ability to do his job. We may not like that but thats the reality of the situation. Now they'll find someone ready to step in who want put themselves all over the internet being a prat.

What if he had no dealings with the public/clients. What if he was a programer or something? Would he be fired then? Just curious.

Yes mate, he would have been. I expect everyone to represent themselves and the company well regardless of them being client facing or not.

Remember lads, you are Chelsea and Chelsea is style.

If style is jarg Stone Island, baseball caps and knuckle tattoos then yes, Clive, Chelsea is style.

It's a tough one. On the one hand I wouldn't want my companies image negatively affected, on the other, I wouldn't like to cave to social media hysteria. I would probably ask the employee to tone down his online presence, issue an apology and maybe even take some PR training. I'd give him a second chance. It makes me think that this fella must have been surplus to requirements anyway. There's a chance his firm were looking for an excuse to give him the boot.

At the highest levels you employ or contract someone as much for their judgement as their technical competence. With regards to a lawyer you are also asking them to represent you or your company.

This guy demonstrates appalling judgement and is unlikely to be seen as a suitable representative.

He's made himself unemployable.
When you consider how intelligent he must be to get where he has he is a bit of a retarded idiot as far common sense is concerned.

Deservedly sacked obviously. You can't publicly call a portion of your companies potential clients "scum" and expect nothing to come of it in any job.

Not only that, non-Scousers would have been worried about using that firm if he had stayed. Imagine using a solicitors firm with someone in it who thought going on camera and saying that was a good idea?

In my experience when dealing with people like this they are too clever for their own good, and think they're too smart to ever get caught out. That's why when it happens, like it has to this horrible Tory clown, it tastes that bit sweeter.
