Last 2 times we won the league, after 17 games:

At the end of the day it's 4th place. In any other competition that would be considered insanity - yes I know it's obviously not really the same but it doesn't gurantee anything.

As for the whole money issue, unless it's used to buy a genuine World Class player(s) then it really doesn't mean anything.

Although I never in a million gannet farts envisaged us being (at worst) 4 points off the top on Xmas day, I am still remaining firmly realistic.

I would take 3RD, not 4th if offered right now, simply because we'd have six guaranteed ECL games and that might be enough to swing Delofeu and Lukaku Goodison-wise to build for the future a la Cloughie/Fergie/Kendall-before-you-know-what.

4th is no good to us, if by some miracle we were seeded, we'd have a hot-balled floater with good ECL pedigree but from a krap federation with low FIFA rank or a good federation but a low club coefficient

I think we still haven't seen the best of Man City and they are my bet to win it - on goal difference above Liverpool, with the pundits looking back to out heroic, last-ditch 2-1 win at Anfield on 28th January as the turning point...
