Bakayoko is probably the one we have more chance of signing like (Unless Lampard decides he likes him)
Fair enough, can't see us going for either though as I don't think we will sell Gana. If we do I have absolutely no idea who to replace him with. N'didi from Leicester is quality but would cost a fortune and may not even want to move.

I'd be very worried about selling him

My only hope would be that Brands anticipated it following the interest from PSG and already has someone in mind

Either that or Silva has faith in Joe Williams or Baningame and thinks they can survive some trial by fire

Bakayako from Chelsea could be an option I suppose

Supposedly did well at Milan

Would certainly be a wildcard option, but he'll probably be around the Chelsea squad or sold abroad though I'd imagine.

I know that Sangare has been mentioned by a few people, and he'd cost probably half of what we'd get for Gueye and is quite a bit younger. Honestly never seen him play myself but I'd trust Brands to do his homework.

Having said all this, I don't think Gana is leaving.

I'd be worried if he left too, he's top quality and a massive reason why we kept so many clean sheets last season.

You would hope Brands has somebody in the pipeline if he requests a transfer and hopefully they could do at least half the job Gana does.

I don't think Beni or Williams are ready for that amount of games, Williams further along and may be a decent rotation option but time will tell.

I suppose you could rotate both of them if neither is ready for a full schedule

Two birds with one stone then

I know some like to complain about Gana, but I think he's hugely important to us and if we didn't adequately replace him we'd be down you-know-what creek

Suppose you could do, going off that pre season game last weekend Beni didn't really seem to take a chance to impress in the way Williams did though, another loan or sale on the horizon for Beni I think.

Williams will likely always be the one getting more chances as Silva reportedly rates him and was keeping tabs on him during his loan at Bolton

Bangingame is more of an Unsworth favourite

I'd be disappointed if we sold him, but it wouldn't be the end of the world. He hasn't always been perfect, he's actually been through some spells of terrible form, and we've managed to get by. Like I said, I'd trust Brands to get a mega fee and recruit accordingly.

Players come and go, we move on. I'm past wallowing in sadness about players leaving the club now, it's just the way football is.

He's garbage Mikey, honestly.

He was slightly better than he was at Chelsea - nothing more - in a pretty poor Milan side. Had an argument with Gattuso towards the end of the season when he told him to 'f*** himself' when Gattuso asked him to get ready to come on as a sub and he wasn't ready and Gattuso got mad.

Massive swerve. He wasn't even good at Monaco. Fabinho held that midfield together. Bakayoko's very limited.

Totally agree mate.

He's so under-appreciated at times. He's a brilliant all-round midfielder (that has definitely come on in the last 6-8 months) now. Yeh he's 29, but so what. He's still full of energy, isn't injury prone and is genuinely excellent at what he does.

He's also key to how Silva wants us to play. He wants the fb's to push right on and basically have six attackers with one of the midfielders pushing on too. For that to work, Gana needs to be in there to sweep up everything behind.

I think a lot of fans are scared about losing him because they're scared of the replacement not being identical to Gueye and they're not used to that.
