Ian Ross Statement

What a discgrace though that the OS only put on a one sentence statement. That is the most embarassing thing I have ever seen.

You don't know what has gone on though. Wyness is not obliged to tell the club why he is resigning so he may not have given them any reason and therefore there is nothing to write apart from that. It happened late last night so be patient and the details may or may not show themselves.

There may be more to this than meets the eye. Its a strange time to resign from the club, right in the middle of Kirby and when transfers are being sorted.

The timing of Moyes going on record saying that he expects to sign a new contract within a few weeks is perfect timing. That story will take first place on all news sites and makes the KW resignation pale. Nobody really cares about CEOs compared to managers.

I must say that this is good PR work on EFC behalf. The only thing to trumph it would be to present a new signing. IMO we will hear more official news about the Moutinho bid later today or tomorrow just to keep focus away from KW's departure.

I don't think there is anymore to the resignation that the fact that KW has been offered a job at Real Mallorca. On paper it should be less attractive than Everton, but if he has disagreed on several occations with Moyes - he will know that he is fighting a losing battle. Moyes is untouchable even from BK. KW saw that and decided that he might be better of and more influential at Real Mallorca.

Anyway just my take on this latest episode of "Days of our lives with Everton" :D

This has to be Kirkby related. How could it not be? Wyness was the public face of the project. For him to go now almost certainly means the project is dead in the water.

Got to agree,i'm sorry but i dont buy the Moyes wanted him gone theory it doesnt add up,sure they may not have liked each other, hell they could have been lovers we dont know but the simple fact is this,we're in the middle of a short transfer window, have a ground issue due to be sorted out if the 2 men couldnt work together then i'm sorry its time both of them had thier arses kicked.

But i dont see that being the reason why Wyness left, its got to be kirbky being called in,it'll be interesting to see how Ross spins it if that turns out to be the case.

I could well agree with that.

Maybe he was told to fall on his sword or be sacked.

maybe moyes would only sign if wyness left?

Their would only be one winner their!!
Maybe Wyness left in the knowledge that Kirkby is indeed through and it adds considerable to his CV!!! Anyone thought of that?

I was at the beginning but hoping others take it to the end sort of thing?

was thinking the exact same thing.

"AJ deffo NOT going -Big Keith (I tell No Lies) Wyness"

:D
So Kieth should have said "Of course AJ's going - whatdya expect?" I think that the club has to manage news in the best way that it can. The fact that it [Poor language removed] up on a number of occasions is another issue, but if I was in that position, I'd say something similar to Kieth, though probably more opaque and meaningless like "AJ is a valuable member of our squad and we all love him".

Its the fact that Everton fail to grasp the importance of words and how to use them which fails me.

I think it's making a point.

Normally announcements like that include guff about what a wonderful job he's done since he's been here and how they wish him all the best for the future and are confident that the sterling foundations he set in place will be carried on by whoever is appointed to follow him.

I suspect that everyone at the club is severely pissed off that he is leaving us while Kirkby is still officially up in the air, while finances and negotiations for vital transfers have to be put in place, and at extremely short notice (surprised, to be honest, that he is able to resign at such short notice as a CEO).

Thats true. Everyone in a job has to give a notice in. But then again CEO's dont have to give notices in do they? Or am I just thinking they dont have to if they step down.

He cant just throw his dummy out of the pram and leave with work all up in the air.

I'm guessing someone is setting up to replace him pronto, and the Kirkby stuff isnt involved with it. If it was he'd have a lot of work to do to get something on track before jumping ship. It'd leave a massive hole to sort out if he intantly resigned over Kirkby in the middle of the night.

He went because hes big mate, with the guy that took over Majorica i dont see anything more sinister in it then that. He just fancies himself in a plush pad in Spain would be hard to say know to that and to deal with us unruly mob over parking spaces in kirkby.

I expect Wyness to let us know an awfull lot in regard to the club and specifically the Kirkby move, now hes doesnt have to tow the party line or pander to the fanbase.

the same ross who told people an hour before it was announced that Keith was still in charge?
Well, it is his job. If you are a PR you are paid to put forward the point of view of your employers at any given time so I can't blame Ross for that (in fact, I would think his job is an extremely unenviable one).

Taken from the echo:

Sources close to Wyness have suggested that he has walked because he had grown exasperated with a lack of investment in the club and run out of patience with regards to footballing matters.

The terms of Wyness’s contract stipulated he must serve a 12-month notice period.
But he has been released with immediate effect and it now looks increasingly likely he will take over a similar role at Real Mallorca.

The echo tries to give the impression that we'll only miss him a bit with regards Kirkby.
