I certainly won't argue with you in that regards (treating the paying customer respectfully) but why is it that supporters think they can just email/phone up the head PR guy of a professional sports team and think they'd get answers?
If someone here in the States tried that with my local MLB team (Houston Astros) they'd be told in no uncertain terms "no comment" as it's really none of their business. If they were accused of "constant lying," they'd be laughed at and rightfully so.
Sure, they could vote with their feet and quit going to games all because they didn't get the answers they liked or answers period but they'd be in the very small minority. Just because you buy a ticket to the game, you think you can get answers whenever you feel like asking? Heh. I don't think so.
That will be down to the fact that, in general, in England Football clubs grew from working class communities, so people feel a sense of ownership over them without actually having any business connection to them. Unlike the Franchised American system. At the moment most English clubs are stuck inbetween the old style and the "business" style, and we appear to be no different.
