I don't like the idea of a new stadium

What do u mean its not attractive on the out side I still gett butterflies when I see it

I have to agree with you after being a season ticket when I was younger, sleeping outside the gladys street end seeing good times and bad and averaging 8 or 9 games a season since I had kids I still get butterflies as well!!

It is very outdated though, but still don't want to see the end of Goodison even though I do think we need to modernise on an extreme scale or create a new history at a modern stadium!!

I know we need a need stadium to push on as a football club but the thought of leaving Goodison does leave me feeling cold and miserable.

Just wish there was a way of redeveloping Goodison

Like it or not, it's necessary.

I love Goodison, it's one of my favourite places on the planet and when/if we do leave, it'll certainly be sad. Has to happen though to move forward.

If we redevelop goodison then we shouldn't touch the bullens road or gwladys street. If we decide to go for a new ground, then we have to do a proper job of it. And within queens drive, preferably not north liverpool.

My reasons for this and you might thinks its pedantic but I'm happy where I Sit in the lower Gwladys, I know the stand like the back of my hand and I enjoy the songs we sing and how we get behind the team.

A new stadium: Ok, how do we know where the Gwladys street faithful will be seated, they could be positioned here there and everywhere sitting next to the people who choose not to sing and the atmosphere will turn sour. In fact there'll be hardly any.

Do I have a point? Will everybody be split? Will they tell us where everyone else is going? Will I get a seat that is exactly like the one I'm in now? I don't like any of this and I hope it never happens.

An easy solution. You design a specific "home end", one giant bank of steep seats, then call it the "new Gwladys" and give every Gwladys street season ticket holder first priority there.

IF we had the all cash for a new stadium I would still prefer a phased redevelopment retaining and / or recreating as much of Leitch's Iconic structure as we can even if it cost a bit more than building a by the numbers ( even a good class one ) 'soulless' edifice.
the other money not spent use for players.
Also re Leitch, how much do the ad boards for pies and gingerbeer actually bring in.

This is the kind of thing that proper engagement with the fans and shareholders (which hopefully last night's meeting is a step towards) should be about. If this is your prime concern, IMO it's a relatively simple thing for the club to get you onside with a new stadium project by saying something like:

Here's the plans for the new ground...blah blah...any season ticket holder who renews their ticket will find themselves among the same fans unless they request a move. Here's a plan showing how each block of seats in the Lower Gwladys will be transferred to the new Bargain Booze stand behind one goal. Here's a plan showing how each block of seats in the Main Stand will be transferred to the new Bill Kenwright stand. Park End regulars will default to the new 6000 seater Dixie Dean stand behind the other goal...

...and so on.

The thing is, they'll never consider this kind of thing if they fail to develop a decent working relationship with the fans. And this kind of thing is an easy win that will generate goodwill and a feeling of involvement and ownership.

Those are the 2 stands that most need updating. They have the most obstructed views and the poorest facilities. I agree that their aesthetic contributes hugely to the "character" of Goodison (thanks Archie!), but if that look and feel can be retained in upgraded stands that generate higher income and provide better facilities for supporters I think they're actually the number 1 priority.

If the posts were taken out would the stand collapse?

Yep, and those pesky horseless carriages are a nuisance too :P

I love my seat in the Gwladys Street, I've sat there for 15 years with the same people also keeping the seats around me for that time so they're apart of my match going experience however, a new stadium is a must just to catch up to the rest.

They're not there for decoration!

Seriously, you could remove some if the roof on each stand were supported in some other way (e.g. trusses supported by new towers at either end). The Bullens Road could be improved massively by converting the parts under the current upper stand to Exec boxes (which means the posts supporting the current upper stand could stay) and replacing those seats and more with a new, cantilevered tier and roof over the current Upper Bullens.

You'd need to buy land behind the stand to build the support structures for the new tier, but not much. And you could end up with an imposing edifice to rival the Main Stand opposite, an increase in capacity, fewer restricted views and more than double the exec boxes.

I think the GFE plans (circa 1997?) had an option for additional boxes/premium seating slung underneath and near the front of new roof structures all around. They looked cool as all f***, but a not the best idea from anyone who finds the Top Balcony vertiginous!

If we wanted to be sold to mega rich owners then we would have a better chance if the Kirkby deal went through, no one will touch us at goodison
