Cal, I'd really change your stance before you make more of a fool of yourself.

Artera, Yak and Cahill don't win games on their own. They are part of a team, a team that was made up of rejects from other clubs. Players that Moyes has said, yes I can turn them into better players. You don't have to spend £15m on a player to get in the top 4 or to win trophies. Let me prove it.

Arsenal won the league with players like Vieira and Anelka. They cost less than 5m between them.

Man U won the league last time with one player who cost £12m.

A good manager is not the one like Mourinho who spends hundreds of millions on over paid players. It's the man who see's the potential in a player.

What difference does it make if we spend £15m on a player? or £15m on 3?

Spot on.

I know, they were all very good signings.

All i'm saying is that maybe its time to move on from buying players from lower leagues in the hope that they turn into world beaters?

I'm not really talking about players who cost less then 6 million, i'm talking about plucking players from the lower leagues in hope they turn out to be class because of our small budget.

If we really want to challenge the top 4, we need to bring in players that can win a game on their own, like Arteta or Yakubu or Cahill.

These players cost mega bucks now.
I agree with you Cal but its not going to happen every season we seem to be hoping for Moyse to shop at the top but inside knowing its bargain basement again.Moyse has done well there to be fair but surely the guy deserves the chance to at least have the option of buying a top class player who he feels will make a difference.

Totally agree, its great that moyes has an eye for a bargin, but if he decides that he needs a player that is 15mill, it would be nice if he could get his man. Rather than be forced to look elsewhere. I think thats what Cal is getting at.

Yep.

But i'm a spoilt brat for wanting the best players at the club apparently mate.

Cal, everyone wants the same thing mate - nothing wrong with that - its when you start believing the internet bullshit and speculation where people dont get it.

You did the same last season pal. Theres six weeks to go until the transfer window closes, if after then we've not signed anyone then sound I'll jump on the bandwagon then. Its a bit premature now and slightly geordieish to be raising your pitchfork in anger at this point.

i think you are referring to me calling you a spoilt brat.

i called you a spoilt brat because you wanted us to spend 15 million pounds on a player. (look to opening post of thread for dummy spat out)

you still don't get it. we have top players here already. we just finished 5th in the league. you are being a spoilt brat with all your doom and gloom crap saying we need to blow our wad on some russian or god knows who when moyes has shown time and time again he is building a team without paying mega transfer fees/wages and everything that goes with it.

don't you get what has happened here over the last five years? we have turned round from a team every year in relegation trouble to a euro starter.

cal, when we were in the real [Poor language removed] you were in infant school so i don't blame you too much for your short sightedness. for the rest of us, this is great to see us up there again.

and yeah, you are a spoilt brat.

grow a pair.

It's the way your going about it mate. Moyes knows what we need, but he also knows that its not about the money, its about the talent, potential, and value for money. So many clubs spend big and think this is it. We're going to win the league. But it's more than that.

Personally I believe Moyes has become a better manager because he has had to work with players and not pick from the elite like people like Jose Mourinho has had the luxury of.

It's just starting to piss me off all this we need to spend big, it's bollocks.

Well i want to progress.

I can obviously see 2 sides but i feel that to progress into breaking the Sky4 we need to bring in the players who can compete.

It was obvious to see in the Anfield derby, we needed that champions league player who can win a game out of nowhere.

They cost mega bucks.

I'm not talking about going Ambramovich all over the shop, but a couple of top class players will go down nicely.

I think we need one big signing definatly. An 8-12 million pound proven player who will produce the goods. We've done that for the last few years so I don't see why we won't again. I'm confident we will get the players we need.

Well that's better mate. Of course we all want that, but we know the limits that this club have. We don't have millions to blow. But would you want us to?

We need quality, but we also need players that are going to fit in.

Personally this season we are going to have Baines back, which for me is like a new signing. VDM may even shock a few, you never know. Rodwell is going to come into his own. Maybe even Gosling.

You just need to be patient and not expect us to go out that and spend £15m on Ruud Van Ravenelli, all you need to do is look at who has been our best player over the past 5 years, and then look at how much he cost. Imagine if Moyes can pick up 2 more of that type of deal?

I suppose so but you can't always rely on low budget players to come in and become superstars.

I'd still like to see someone like Moutinho come in, who can produce that bit of class to win a game.
