But surely thats the manufacturer's problem, not the club's? The money they agree to pay comes in regardless of how many shirts they sell

For a club like us the manufacturer doesn't really matter in terms of sales. The people willing to buy an Everton shirt will generally buy it because they are an Everton fan and they want the Everton shirt. The shirt being terrible could affect things of course.

Doesn't matter really we like most clubs get paid a certain amount of money for them to have their name on our shirts, does not to my knowledge depend on shirt sales, but on brand exposure.
