Their sole identity is in two things – Wool Rugby, not the proper type, and these days being called Tigers in English football. Sponge hands all over the show.

Finally something sensible.

Thanks for the previews, always a laugh, have to find something else to look forward to on Friday mornings. ¡Salud, Azul.

My Virgin GOT season finished! Thanks for the previews kept my Friday mornings going. I'm now off for egg mayonnaise with cress sandwiches as the Cricket season is upon us. Of course minus the crust ;)

Thanks Guys! (0 - 3) Hibbert Hat Trick

Seeing the name Hull Tigers got me wondering what ever happened to the Everton Tigers?
Looked it up and found sad news...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mersey_Tigers

I actually have an Everton Tigers training top. Don't even know where I got it.

8-0 Everton.

@chicoazul - thanks for doing these all season again. They're an integral part of my week (read them at work obvs).

@Cena - good work with the FA Cup ones.

@ijjysmith - awful league cup efforts.

8-0 Everton

To all us Evertonians that will be attending the game on Sunday, welcome to the new City of Culture. A fine place to visit and live. I should really start with where to drink on Sunday but ....

They play proper rugby in this neck of the woods and have 2 teams in the top division which is unusual in rugby terms. Unless, you count Leeds Rhinos and Hunslet Hawks or Wigan St.Patricks and Wigan Warriors. Rugby daft is the city and football tends to come a poor second really. City have only just sold out their Wembley allocation because thousands and thousands will be going to the Etihad, cup final day, for the Magic Weekend. The Cup final kicks off at the same time as the Hull FC v Hull KR match. The Rugby Football League were asked to move the game but gave some lame excuse that the other teams are 'prepared' for their kick off's.

The city is divided into two, due the River Hull, West and East Hull and it very much determines the rugby divide.

The Black and Whites Hull FC, play at the KC, are really the Kopites of Rugby League, it is always 'our season' they spend big but have never won the super league since it was formed. The 'Old Faithful' do have the unenviable record of never having won the Challenge Cup at Wembley, despite being a 'big' club and appearing there a good few times..

Which nicely, leads on to the Rovers/Robins who take every opportunity to remind their (our) rivals, as I'm a pass holder at Caravan Park - Hull FC's witty name for our ramshackle ground, where you can still smoke behind the stand and drink beer whilst watching the game, that 'Old Faithful you've never won at Wembley'.

The one thing I miss Liverpool for is the rivalry between us and them, living in Hull makes up for it a bit.

I have celebrated ardently and everywhere supporting Everton for donkey's years. But when we (Rovers) beat the black and whites at the Etihad in 2012 in the last minute it took us 30 minutes to be pushed out of the ground/concourse by the stewards. Youtube, if you are interested. This was a few weeks after the Etihad saw their own dramatic celebrations, hopefully the same this week-end. The Great Escape' was the order for the after match celebrations.

That day I thought of the Dan Gosling's cup Derby goal, Borussia Monchengladbach penalty shoot out and the 'Great Escape' last ditch Stuart's goal against Wimbledon. 'Who needs Cantona when we' got Barry Horne'. Der der der der der, der der der der der, Der der der der der der der der der, Der der der der der, der der der der der, Der der der der der der der ...

Where to drink on Sunday. Near the ground it is hit and miss, some pubs don't mind away supporters others have the 'No away fans' posters in the windows. In the town centre (maybe Chico was right it shouldn't class itself as a city) around the corner from the train station there are 4 pubs, close together that all allow away fans in. A Wetherspoons, Admiral on the Humber, a newly opened pub opposite with Sky and 2 others. Rough and ready but generally friendly. From the town centre it is about 20 minutes walk or 5 minutes on the bus, that stops close to were those 4 pubs are, to the KC.

One thing about the people of Hull, they generally like scousers, another is the amount of Kopites walking around with their replicas. But there are sufficient Manu supporters that like Everton because we hate the RS.

There are other pubs about 15 minutes walk from the ground. The Avenue is on Chantersland Avenue. Google map it, as I can't because I'm an IT neanderthal. You have to go over the railway lines, and turn left off Spring Bank West. If you carry on for 5 minutes along Spring Bank West you come to Prince's Avenue and there are pubs around there. All welcome away supporters.

One thing about football in this City is the one and only legend Ken Wagstaff.

Kenneth "Ken" Wagstaff (born 24 November 1942 in Langwith, Nottinghamshire)[2] is a former English footballer noted for his playing career at Mansfield Town and Hull City football clubs. In 2000, club fans of both Mansfield Town and Hull City voted Wagstaff their club's player of the century – the only player to be named by two football league clubs. During club centenary celebrations in 2004 he was voted "The greatest player to play for Hull City AFC" by supporters. Amazingly once again he was voted for by both Mansfield and Hull City fans as "all-time favourite player".[4] in 2007.

Rugby has loads and no one better than Welshman Clive Sullivan, who played for FC and Rovers and led Great Britain Rugby League international team to world cup glory in 1972, scoring the try that won them the game against Australia. No mean feat.

Anyway, enjoy your visit to Hull, and despite all the bad press it gets, it is a fine place to visit and live.
