Howard Out?

Ok, so he has cost us 3-5 points this season. And how many points has he saved us???

Howard will continue to have my support until he starts playing badly, and I just don't see that happening. The only way Mucha is gonna get a look in, is if Howard is injured. Howard is one of the top 3 Prem keepers (not being blue-tinted at all in that), and should not be dropped for making a mistake, then 2 months later making another one. We are all but human. If we applied some of the logic displayed on here to your own lives, you would all have been fired ages ago.

Perspective. Everton provide the football, we provide the perspective.

This.

Competition for places is the the Managers best weapon against complacency but mistakes are going to happen; its how he recovers now. He knows he should have had it covered, I don't think we'll be seeing anymore schoolboy errors off him for a while.

If he does then, its complacency and Mucha should be given a crack, provided he's done enough in training.

jan will never get a crack at it though will he? thats the point, should just wrap it up....keeper fcuked up...will play next week and the 30 odd after that

He probably wont, mainly due to Tim having more ability.

Howards mistakes this season have been costly and annoying but he is still our best option in goal.

How can you be so sure?

I'd like to see Mucha given a go. Howard would benefit from that kick up the backside.

But it doesn't matter, as someone rightly said earlier - Howard won't be replaced unless he gets injured - Is that healthy?

He didn't look so impressive in the WC imo

Not sure he would mate.. At his age, and visions of Man United dropping him.. He loves Everton, not sure benching him would boost that love.. I could be wrong though..

Can't hammer him for saturday, how often do half punches land on Crouch and go anywhere near goal? It was like 12 lunar eclipses in one. Could have sunk every bookie in the country with that.

What I like about Tim H is that he cops to his mistakes. I just read an article where he said going into the locker room at halftime that the goal was completely his fault. He does not shirk his mistakes. And he came out in the second half with some good saves.

Even after his howler he looks solid. You want to talk a goalkeeper who made everyone shudder? Almunia for Arsenal. Just watching that man try to catch anything gave me hives. Tim is LEAPS and BOUNDS above someone like that.

He made an error - until it becomes Almunia-esque, he has the starting job. As he should.

Total wind up thread this.

Tim is a tremendous goalkeeper but all goalkeepers make mistakes. He makes more point saving saves than he does mistakes by some way.

Save from Scholes with his boot in the Man Utd game anyone?

I wasn't particularly impressed with Mucha in the WC, and he certainly didn't command his area as Tim Howard does in the Brentford game.

I, as David Moyes said, like the fact he carried on coming and took some pressure off the defence in the second half. We've seen plenty of keepers in our time who lose it after they make a mistake and they are liable to make another in the same game because they aren't mentally strong enough to cope (Gerrard, Wright, etc).

Sure, I'd love us to sign a Casillas or a Lloris, etc., but it's not going to happen. In my opinion, Tim Howard is the next level down and is the best we can hope for right now.

Every keeper makes mistakes, (see VDS, Reina, etc.) but Howard, as others have already pointed out, keeps us in numerous games with some great saves (Utd, we were in with a chance til the end for a point v Villa cos he made some great saves, etc.).

The point is, every player makes mistakes, when a keeper makes one, 99% of times it'll result in a goal. I don't see why everyone just calls for a keeper to be dropped if they make an error. Joe Hart has made a few errors this season too, I don't really see City fans (and one of my best mates is one) calling for him to be dropped. If a player gives the ball away and it results in a goal, yet he has a really good game that apart, are people calling for him to be dropped? I doubt it. It's just harder for a keeper to make up for it unless they see a lot of action, and I thought Howard did everything that was asked of him after he made the error and before it too.

Counting the regularity and frequency of people having to say all goal keepers make mistakes, just ours makes mistakes a little more often then most.

He holds his hands up to his miostakes?? Whats that all about?? He doesnt have much of a choice?? Hes hardly going deny flaping or droping a ball.

Mucha isnt the answer either for me, would cream myelf if we managed to get Shay Given.

Stoke will do a number on the other Tim as well - just watch.

Lets have a see where i'd put him.

1. Petr Cech.
2. Joe Hart (on sheer ability).
3. Pepe Reina.
4. Our Tim.
5. Van Der Sar (more experience than soft mick, but as of NOW, he's pretty much done).
