Howard Kendall RIP

Mentioned this in another thread, but if anyone has time have a listen to the Alan Myers Echo podcast, during it he talked about when Martinez brought Kendall back to the club and the training ground. Talked about how humbled he was and how he almost seemed nervous talking to Ross Barkley. Good listen and brilliant from Martinez.

What a player he was, and how we could use him in our current midfield.

He restored pride and success in his first stint as our manager, and a real Evertonian.

Sad that his personal life was troubled, but we will remember only the good stuff.

Yep,that should never be forgotten,it didn't work out for Roberto,but indeed he was a good man and at least before he died Howard knew he was always welcome at the club.

Agreed. Roberto gets huge stick, but he always 'got' Everton and wanted us to play decent football. Unfortunately it simply didn't work out, although theres a few senior players who left a very inter taste in my mouth for their part in cultivating and encouraging the malaise. If you asked HK what his thoughts on Roberto were I'm sure we'd be pleasantly surprised.

Didn't know that Esk.....doesnt surprise me though as despite the rivalries I do believe the majority of Clubs have moral fortitude.

Last year was horrible, but it was this period in particular that was so difficult.

To lose a childhood hero in Howard Kendall was gutting. When the news broke it was surreal, especially as my dad had just recently been diagnosed with cancer. By the following month he was sadly no longer of this realm either.

That was easily the most difficult period of my life.

I tried to take solice in the new Star Wars movie, and they offed my fiction hero too.

Just watched this again! Any Evertonian who doesn't watch this with a tear in their eye is made of stronger stuff than me! Should be compulsory viewing for all Evertonians!
