....player, coach and manager, surely no individual has had more of a successful impact on our club. He's entitled to be called the greatest.
I have a vivid memory of him not in the glory days when we were winning games , but in the season before he left he single handily as an aging player still showed his class to keep us from relegation!
Game after game he turned in MOTM performances to keep us away from the drop, exchanged to Birmingham in the Bob Latchford deal - later to return to give us back the glory years as a manager.
He had the staying power oozed class til his last playing days even came back as player manager!
Happy birthday to a real Legend!

Indeed he did 'keep us up' - much like Best was doing over at United
Kendall was sold /swapped
Best 'Quit'
United went down
We didn't

He had lost Bally Harvey had his hip injury, Kendal with a middle balding head just kept us up by putting MOTM performances in the last ten games in a very mediocre team in which his class rose to the surface - I seen him in the brilliant late 1960's team, but it was those late performances he produced to show how classy of a player he had been!

Mentioned this in another thread, but if anyone has time have a listen to the Alan Myers Echo podcast, during it he talked about when Martinez brought Kendall back to the club and the training ground. Talked about how humbled he was and how he almost seemed nervous talking to Ross Barkley. Good listen and brilliant from Martinez.
