Howard Kendall RIP

In the wake of Howard's passing and the immediate calls for stands and roads to be re-named, statues to be erected and suchlike, non of which I am against... there is another possibility that could also be considered for and to permanently honour the Holy Trinity.

What would people think about the club retiring the number 4, 6 and 8 shirts in honour of Howard, Colin Harvey and Bally in similar vein to the way ice hockey honours retired players ?

Not for me, Block.

Do that and then someone will say let's retire the 9 in honour of Dixie.....the 5 in honour of Labby.....etc.

And who is to say no to that once the precedent had been set?

The statue is a must though, IMO.

I was 5yrs old and I live in the US when he began managing Everton so I cannot personally understand and have the connection that most of the forum has with this manager.

But I can understand tradition, leadership and pride. It truly is amazing how the Everton family comes together for their own and for that I am eternally grateful for his legacy.

Probably been said, but a lot of credit to the Sunderland fans for joining in with the tribute so wholeheartedly. I know Howard still has friends and family in the area, and he would have been delighted to see that.

I didn't notice it live, but on MOTD2 it was clear they were not just applauding but chanting "One Howard Kendall!!"

Excellent from the Sunderland fans.

I favour the statue idea rather than numbers or even re-naming the stands. I would love it to happen sooner rather than later although I would be swayed by Harvey's preference if he wanted to wait. The iconic photo of the three of them celebrating the goal is instantly recognisable to every Blue.... To turn it into a 3D statue like Dixie's would be ace.
