How will it get better next season? Surely it's downhill from here?

12 games left...that's all but a third of the season still to go! Fifth will be a faecal fight btween us, Spurs and United. And don't forget Newcastle. Pardew reminds us that they are only 5 points from him getting a Mars Bar!

Bloody hell we have literally the most depressing fans in the world. C'mon lads! We have an amazing bright young manager and a great core group of players who are currently playing the best football my generation (I'm 25) has ever seen us play. We're going away to League favourites Chelsea gutted that we didn't claim all 3 points after being pretty damn unlucky not to get at least a goal. This is an Everton I've never known before and I know it's only going to get better. Get in a striker that can finish (or even just impose some sort of presence to keep the opposition occupied) and we're on our way to some magical things at Everton! Keep the faith lads, it's not actually difficult anymore!

It's not even about our strikers any more. There's only so long the same story can be said over and over. Our midfield doesn't create the same sort of chances we see Suarez scoring etc, and as a result if our striker isn't creating for themselves then they are doing literally nothing.

Rooney and Van P aren't exactly setting the world alight and scoring for Man Utd, do they need new strikers? I don't think so, the midfield just doesn't create chances for them like they used to.

We aren't gonna achieve much in the first few seasons, we will always be around the top 7 as we are the better side outside of the top 5. Martinez will steady the ship before a squad overhaul will happen. In those few years we will have Ross Barkley playing much better football as will James McCarthy. John Stones will become a regular starter and Seamus Coleman will scarily get better. We will need to bring in a massive signing of a centre forward, whether it's Lukaku or not. Bryan Oviedo will take over from Leighton Baines at some point but Baines is a natural athlete (like Giggs) and could carry on for a lot longer. Other players like George Green will make the step up and John Lundstram who has a bright future.

I don't mind being around the top 6 for the next couple of seasons as I know when our squad rebuilds again it will be better than the one we have now. It's just gonna take time and we as Evertonians have to be patient still. We will get there, it's just not gonna be straight away. I'd say we are 3 years away from breaking the top 4 without a problem.

I think next season is a big year for us. Roberto's second season, players used to how he operates- Kone fit (dont care what you say he would have contributed this season) Gibson fit, fresh recruits in the summer.

Either Lukaku signed up or a.n.other to fill that void.

I think we need a few wins .Then maybe the light will start to appear over Everton brow.
It´s been a tough month or so. But I am confident that we can go on a little run and put some points up and get back to feeling good.

I honestly don't get why we haven't had significant interest from investors the way other clubs have.

Why some moneybag sheikh or oil tycoon would want to invest in City or Chelsea ahead of us baffles me no end.

Not that I'd want that kind of investor

Thought with the Li Tie/Li Weifeng/Kejian/Chang connection that we might attract some Eastern investment that would enable us to at least push us into the top 6 spender bracket. But nothing.

Can you explain why you wouldn't want a moneybag sheikh or oil tycoon, but far east money (which could originate from a dictator/despot, someone who got rich out of illegal casinos or sweat-shops or some other all-round human rights abuser) would be okay?

i think this has already been good season and in the next two or three seasons we'll be hitting it big.

It's a new Everton. Future looks whole lot brighter with Bobby.

It is a disappointment about our form now seen as we were doing so well earlier in this season but if we can play this well now then we can only get better . Look at Brendan Rodgers and the red [Poor language removed] their first season in charge they were worse than us and look at them now . I know they have spunked a lot of money but we should see our team being rebuilt and expanded. At top 6 finish and a cup win would spell a succesful campaign for Martinez. Next season will be a big year for us with players coming back from injury and us hopefully signing a few more quality players

being saying to kopites in work today this season has very winnable games on paper for us left. Name one game in the league that you look at and think 'we'll get beat there?'

City and united and arsenal (oh my) are all there for the taking at goodison. We may be out of the race for fourth but 12 games to win lads.

I wasn't saying I'd want Eastern investment over Arab or Russian money, mate. I was expressing my surprise that in a decade of increasing the club's exposure to the East, esp China, we don't seem to have attracted any interest from investors based in that region. That I know of, of course - the Echo might be reporting on these kinds of negotiations every week for all I know, but being located in the far outer limits of Wooldom it doesn't make our news.

Also that the sheikh or rouble-laden russkie-type investor is not one I'd particularly like for Everton - not because of their nationality or anything but rather because they tend to be the kind of investor that wants to buy the club lock stock and barrel, and then have their wicked way with it and to heck with everyone else. I'd rather be the permanently skint team punching above its weight year after year, than Man City or Chelsea. Hoping for some rich fellow out there that respects Everton and genuinely wants to see the club do well, without simply turning it into an extension of his ego or an asset in his portfolio alongside the yacht fleet and the private island and all the other toys.
