How will it get better next season? Surely it's downhill from here?

Compared to last year, we're a position lower in the league, haven't won a derby and haven't done better in either of the cups.

If that's a lot, you'll rapidly run out of hyperbole when we actually achieve something.

Mentality. He's instilling a system were regardless of whom we play and where we play them, we stick to our gameplan and let the opposition worry about how they might have to stop us. It's a long term vision, but he's wasted no time in setting us up the way he wants to see us play.

I thought we were playing some really good stuff up to, and including, Arsenal last December. Since then we've struggled with injuries to some key players but I don't think we're out of the mix just yet. Anyway, I think the author may regret starting this thread, sometime in the early evening of 17th May 2014, when RM lifts the Cup for the 2nd time.

I like the footy we are playing ,we can match teams like Arsenal and chelsea away .Two unlucky away losses and it´s all over? Two losses to two dodgey free kicks . Yes alright we should have scored and with Lukaku up front we look more of a threat and would have probably put 1 or two away.. But it´s not like we are not creating chances . There are still points to play for so will not be jerking my knees up just yet.

There you go.

It's easy to forget that other teams and fans also have expectations. It's fair to say that the shyte, Spurs, Arsenal, Utd, Citeh and Chelski will all heve expectations of finishing above us. The league is about as competitive as it's ever been since the Sky/Champ's League money started pouring in.

Let's not get too down - or guilty of looking over our shoulders. Firstly we're still playing decent stuff as the game at Chelsea proves. You can't win or draw every game you play well in. We've only played badly a handful of times and the lack of a fit striker (or even with options, the absence of your best one) is bound to have an effect. No one thought the loss of Jelly (and earlier, Cheebs) was a problem. But we've lost Kone for the season and Lukaku for a few weeks. I'd have settled for around 7th and stability this season but the downturn in fortunes means that would be a little disappointing. Still, those beneath us don't look like threatening our status just yet.

Of course the progress from that other lot is also getting us a bit morose but hopefully that'll all be forgotten soon.

End of the day the last months just highlighted if needed where we need to address in the summer, striker and a creative mid/cam type, with that we'd be in a stronger position as the chelsea and spuds game were their for the taking

You must be one hell of a scout to have deduced that from about 180 minutes of football for us.
Kone is approaching 30 years old and relies on his speed - face it he was a mistake buy unless the surgeon done a good job as he had the same injury at Seville that's how Wigan got him cheap after he had a torrid season there, he came cheap to Wigan his form dipped last season had a bad game in the FA cup final.
I am judging him on his past history - we may have bought a crock!

...when Moyes left I thought RM would do well to maintain the status quo. He's doing that and a bit more. I'm optimistic that we are at the start of a new journey and it will move us in the right direction.

...I should've added to this that I couldn't see anybody moving us on without investment. Maintaining status quo after Moyes departure was as good as it would get. But now, I do think there is a chance of genuine progression with RM. Change in attitude, change in pattern, change in strategy, change in philosophy could move us upwards. Doubtful it could be to the top, but enough to make more of a robust challenge to those with deeper pockets, rather than feel happy to simply be on the same park as them.

I keep seeing Leahy being roped into the conspiracy theories, but can you please explain exactly what Terry Leahy is supposed to be getting out of his part in the charade in 2014?

Thanks
He gets to dine like a king at some very extravagant dinner parties hosted by bill and his money sucking friends
