Need to have a window not based on sales at some point. Can only get so far selling a big name every summer. If we dont need the money (as we are constantly told) then don't sell. It's quite simple.

but it's not about not needing to sell is it Tim. I can't be arsed with a sulking Lukaku so if he wants to go let's fleece someone for as much as possible. If Barkley doesn't want to sign a new deal then flog him and get someone else in who wants to play for Everton.

Football isn't about not selling players to prove that we don't need to. It's about wheeling and dealing and getting us a squad who can compete. If those particular players don't want to compete then we need to bin them off.

We didn't sell Stones because we had to, we sold him because he didn't want to be here and we fleeced City for the highest amount. Every club does it.

I'm just feeling very mixed emotions. I'm completely fed up with players thinking they are far too good for us, so yes I do sort of want them out, and I'm extremely disappointed in Barkley. But equally letting them go sets us back miles. It also doesn't prove we actually have spending power. It also makes me sceptical about moshiri. It's really a no win situation. I want players here who want to play here and don't try to convince us all we're really privileged to have them. But unfortunately if they go there's next to no chance of us coming out of the window stronger. Modern football is actually a farce really.

I totally understand where you are coming from mate, you want your best players to stay because that's how you compete. But the minute players start thinking that we are some sort of stepping stone to greater things they can do one as far as I'm concerned.

Sometimes we have to take a couple of steps back in order to take a few steps forward and I think that may be the case this summer mate

When do you think we are going to have that moment when we can start to be taken seriously as a top club though mate? Last summer was a none event too. Will it be the summer after when we make that statement?

I have no problem with trading smartly. However if that's the plan it does need to be communicated more clearly to fans, many of who'm are expecting a real statement summer. You can't have it every way (and by you not you, I mean the board and Mr Moshiri).

90M for Lukaku AND Barkley?

We'll get 90M for Lukaku alone. Barkley probably another 30M plus.

Perhaps, but seen as Barkley only has 1 year to go on his contract, I am not so sure. Anyway, if we bring more money in, that will probably just jack up the prices of the players we buy

I'd be of the opinion that most clubs with ambition will have at least a couple of high net spend windows where they keep the best of what they have, sell the low value fluff and buy in some quality. Whilst selling players who don't wanna be here is reasonable, I'd still like to see us have one of those high net spend windows as it would mean we had kept the best and bought well to go alongside them.

Having said that it would be interesting to see how many 50mil+ net spend windows the clubs around us have actually had in the last few seasons.

honestly don't know when that moment will be, or if it will ever come. One thing I do know though is I'm more than happy to punt any player into next week if they don't want to be here.

this summer could be one of those summers mate where we refuse to sell Rom and Ross signs a new deal and we spend big. If it happens then great, though I won't be surprised if it doesn't turn out like that.

I think the net spend won't be an awful lot after Rom goes. Expect a summer of 'ifs' and 'maybes' with two or three signings around the Sigurdsson level.

Expect more and be prepared for disappointment IMO.

If Rom goes(along with the likes of Cleverley. Deulofeu & McCarthy) I can't see us spending more than what we get in.

Let's hope so.

I won't be fuming if we sell Rom for megabucks and spend not much more than what we get in....if we buy well....but I won't be mocking the netspend brigade either if they are gnashing their teeth in fury come the windows end.

Everybody's a bit tired of next window, next window....always next window.
