How long do we stick with Jelavic???

Not with 2 outright strikers though, its always been one striker up front and a midfield headerer to knock it down (Cahill) or now we have Fellaini to chest it down and start play.
4-4-2 is having 2 strikers working for each other. We've tried it a few times this season with Jelavic and Anichebe and been massacred every time.

Cahill and Fellaini have played as outright strikers, though.

If that's not 4-4-2 than all the big little man strike partnerships like crouch and defoe or phillips and quinn aren't 4-4-2 either.

And didn't we win a few games with Anichebe and Jelavic? Though I agree it doesn't look promising as a partnership, which is why I didn't suggest it.

You must be on crack mate. Never mind the Fellaini media hype, I personally think Gibson has probably been our best player this season after Baines.

If I am on crack then you are a crackpot - Gibson is playing with a thigh injury never shoots, his corners are now developing in - why play a dodgy injured player even DM has stated he is waiting for anoperation, you can tell by his corners they are Arteta like before he left us! - Jely upfront on his own looks poor - so Victor if fit & in form it is then as he knows were the goal is! his record this season is better ratio than jely who looks void of confidence in a cup game quaterfinal can we risk that????

Difference between having your midfielders up front and playing 2 strikers, but the difference is in how many players are in midfield. Cahill did a lot of link up play, just like Fellaini does. Anichebe and Jelavic are there to score whilst the rest of the midfield play.

Two games in particular stand out this season when we went 4-4-2...

Bolton 4-4-2 Anichebe, Jelavic we were shredded, every time they got the ball they strolled through our weakened midfield and had a shot, only reason we got better near the end was because one went off and Heittinga came on.. (amidst the boo's). Midfield got stronger and we started building chances again.

Wigan 4-4-2 Anichebe, Jelavic. We were awful throughout most of that game whilst we had 2 up front, once again the only time we started looking like a unit was when we reverted to 4-5-1 bringing Oviedo on.

We are just not very good at it.

It's tough to judge because we don't know who'll be managing the team next season or how Jelavic will do in the remaining ten games. If, as appears to be the case, he's a patchy goalscorer then he could end up getting six-eight goals over the next two months and finish with a reasonable total. There's also the imminent departure of Fellaini to consider.

For now I'd start with Anichebe if he's fit. He's not a natural footballer but Jelavic is no Berbatov either, and the fact that Anichebe can't lead the line for ninety minutes means there'll still opportunities for Jelavic off the bench.

If Jelavic continues to struggle throughout the remaining ten games then it could be time to move him on. As much as I'd love having genuine competition up front, recent history shows that it's generally one-out, one-in when it comes to first team strikers at Everton, which probably has something to do with the fact they can't afford to have too many high-earners sat on the bench every week.

Long story short, if Fellaini stays or is replaced by another grock then I'd probably bin Jelavic. I doubt getting decent money for him would be a problem - the good half-season he had will convince a lot of managers to take a punt on him.

.

Sorry mate but you're badly wrong. Berbatov is exactly the type of player Jelavic is.

LOL !

Berbatov is a far superior player technically to Jela, but does sod all work. Jelavic is a workhorse but isn't close to Berbatov in terms of ability. They're pretty much polar opposite players, the only similarity is they both lack pace.

He's really really not.

I respect what you say and thank you for taking the time to post a reply to my thoughts. You're still as wrong as the other bafoons and in a year or two, once Jelly has gotten over this glitch, I'll highlight these comments. Until then the matter is undecided. Alas.

And its times like this I thank the lord for free education.

Cracking education eh. Think you'll find it's spelled buffoons.

First of all, let me know when you've finished school/Uni and I'll start to listen. Until then you're a kid who should respect his elders.

Second if I want to invent a new playful insult for the lot of you ****ging off Jelavic then I will. The fact that my word bafoon looks a little bit like yours buffoon is irrelevant!
