I would prefer relegation/promotion, so that most teams will be fighting for something until the end. Playoffs can be exciting, particularly post-season NHL and MLB, but there is no need for playoffs in the PL.
Many leagues in Europe, have adopted the American playoff styled nature in their top flight leagues, examples being the Belgian, Ukrianian, Greek and many smaller nations. The Belgian league, can be cited, as a prime example of a copy of the American system.
I quite like American football.I’m American.
This is an absolutely horrible idea.
End thread.
Belgian league. It doesn't exist an European football league that decides their champion by using playoff knock out system. They all have top six (eight in serbia and poland) playing few more rounds with points halved or not, but there is no knockouts in European leagues for determining a champion.
American playoffs are exclusivelly knockouts (NFL, MLB, NHL, MLS, NBA).
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOGLE
Part of the reasoning for American leagues having playoffs is not everyone plays the same schedule. In football everyone plays each other home and away so their is no need to balance this
Once upon a time baseball had a balanced schedule and the World Series was the only playoffs and was used because the leagues were completely separate. Now baseball has a crazy amount of playoffs because of moneyEven in MLS the schedule is not balanced so a playoff is understandable.... but the team that finishes with the most points gets a trophy (the Supporters’ Shield) and they go into the North American version of the Champions League along with the MLS Cup winner. So both achievements are rewarded.
